I’m modelling and painting up a Martian Adeptus Mechanicus themed tank list as below. The two times so far I’ve played with the army so far I’ve lost but I think I’m just getting used to the different tactics required and that it is generally sound. Thought I'd seek some feedback from others here before it's put together though in case I may want to make any changes. 4 Demolishers and 2 Executioners plus a Hydra - 480 (BTS) 6 Leman Russ plus a Hydra - 440 6 Executioners - 390 6 Executioners - 390 3 Destroyer Tank Hunters - 175 3 Destroyer Tank Hunters - 175 6 Salamanders - 200 3 Hydras - 150 1 Shadowsword - 200 1 Shadowsword - 200 3 Griffons - 100 3 Griffons - 100 3,000pts in 12 activations, 51 tanks, 36 4+ Reinforced Armour saves, zero AP targets or flyers and 2D6 Commissars Tech Priests to go around. Look ok? Comments? |

What list are you using? |

He's using the EpicUK Tank Regiment list. We played a test game a couple of weeks back when Glyn was in London, and he rolled snake eyes for number of Commissars... it did not go well for Glyn. |

It is indeed the Epic-UK tank list - I use it over the Net-EA Minervan list as it allows variable sized core formations that can be 6 strong as I find 9 strong only tank formations leads too few few activations for my tastes. Plus I prefer their Ulani Destroyer Tank Hunter stats. I refuse to use Epic-UK's silly tank riders as I think their rules makes the infantry unrealistically extra safe rather than more vulnerable as they should be. I'm also limited in not having a supreme commander as if you want one of them you have to take a 9 strong 750 point tank formation and I'd rather use the points as I have. That snake eyes for commissars against you was unfortunate E&C, though I made tactical mistakes in splitting my force and my attacks too much and not having any overwatching AP which would have been useful vs marines (I since swapped the 3rd formation of tank hunters for the Salamanders). |

Not being familiar with the list, it looks good. I assume your formations of Standard, Demolishers and Executioners are your Infantry hunters? If so, it looks like a good balance of AT vs. AP, with suffucient AA (though I prefer not to use Hydra Squadrons and keep all AA organic to formations), and a good Scout screen. What role do the Griffons play? Are they mostly to prep with BMs? |

Executioners are identical to normal Leman Russ except they have a Plasma Destroyer instead of a battlecannon which is 60cm MW4+ slow firing. I've not used them enough to really make my mind up properly but I reckon they're good though need to used carefully to get the best use out of them. The Russes can hunt either vehicles or infantry while the Griffons add a couple of blast templates in there for cheap and to keep the activation numbers up. They die easy but if the enemy target them they're not targeting my other stuff. I normally prefer add-on Hydras too mostly, but I wanted to keep a high activation count. Both the Destroyer Tank Hunters and the Salamanders can scout so 12 scouts - and 75cm AT 2+ Sniper can be really useful - against Zombocom's Dark Eldar one formation sat on overwatch for 3 turns pointing at a webway portal preventing the Raider formation coming out as their shots would have blown them out of the sky and killed most of their passengers. I generally like the idea of the enemy having zero use for any of their AP and AA shots ![]() |

Do Executioners have bolter sponsons? Unless the Epic-UK stats are different, I think they just have the plasma cannon and the las cannon. |

where do you find the Ulani list at? though i need about 10 more Russes to do a proper tank list for any guard/AM list. and i wish i could get some executioners. i think i'll proxy Battletech tanks of appropriate size. in the mean time i'm building a Yme-loc list for my eldar and having fun with it,, i've found Croma's list and another that has some "new" tanks in it based on the sonic/tremor cannon ideals. |

Quote: It is a sci-fi game for fun afterall! It is indeed a toy soldier game... but I agree that the "fluff" should be changed as the current wording is completely *** . *** If you can't find anything positive to say... |
