How can I solve the BTS problem in my IG list??, since I want to field the following formations: Tank co: 10 Leman Russ + Hydra = 700 points HQ Mech Inf Co: HQ + Fire Support + Chimeras + Hydra = 700 points Art Co: 9 vehicles + hydra = 700 points (Then Sentinels, Vultures, Storm Trooper+Valkeries, DeathStrike, Thunderbolts, Hydra platoon) All cost 700!!!, maybe dropping one of the hydras, but still 2 companies costed at 700. Any good upgrade/downgrade?? |

Drop two of the hydras and see about freeing up points elsewhere to take a hydra battery. |

Another option is to add an Infantry Platoon to your RHQ. Cost 875pt. This would make your SC and BTS the same formation though. SG |

Can't you put up to two Hydras in one company? The formation is big enough at that point to spread them out. Then you get one formation at 750. |

No. The Hydra upgrade is add 1 Hydra @ 50pt. SG |

You could add Ogryns (possibly in Chimeras to the mobile ones) to any of the formations. This would give them all a bit of combat durability. |

Sorry I was wrong. You can have up to three upgrades per company. Take one Hydra from the Mech HQ, add it to the LR Co. and you are done. The LR Company still only has two upgrades (both Hydras) and costs 750 now. Or do the same to the artillery - make those planes work for it! |

You can only take an upgrade once per company though Mosc. As far as I know, the current Steel Legion list doesn't put an upper limit on Chimera you buy for upgrades. So your HQ could be: HQ + Heavy + 4 Chimera + Hydra = 750 |

Eh, that's right. Steel Legion isn't my army you might have guessed. Oh well. Just drop one Hydra then and pick up a sniper or other low cost item. |

I've always felt the BTS rule in the tournament scenario is a little silly. The opponent shouldget to nominate which formation they want to kill as BTS in the event of a points tie or something, but having them all count as BTS just means you never see lists with multiple large equally pointed formations. That sort of "listhammer" belongs in 40k imho, not in epic. Also, 2100 points in 3 formations is a big risk unless it's a huge game. |

True, but if I want to take lots of tanks and artillery with Steel Legion I have to pay 650 for the basic formations (and of course add some hydras). I´ll will give a try to Minervan tank legion from Raiders and Ulani tank regiment from UK compendium,as long as my opponents are ok with fan lists. BTW, can I mix Basilisks with Manticores in the Minervan list (Artillery Co.)??? The wording in Steel Legion says so, but I think Minervans don´t allow so. |
