I never understood how someone could sell his army if he didn't need the money dearly.  If lack of games is the reason then i had sold all my armies a long time ago.


Am I selling my army for money? Yes.
Am I selling my army out of frustration over the list development? Yes.

The money is a big part of it.  I am in a situation where Raiders caused me to have to file as a non-profit organization or face tax consequences.  I simply don't have $300 right now for the application fee and I've borrowed from my dwindling savings account as much as I can(a trip to Disneyworld I promised the family, then a nasty home repair, then and car repair -in that order- crushed me unfortunately).  I must file by the end of December or things will NOT be good.

As I see it, my Tau are an asset, like gold in a sense.  They only have value if you can move them, literally or figuratively.  They've been sitting in little plastic cases, untouched, unpainted, unloved, for a long time.  Any joy I had in playing them is gone.   The only effort that went into them was ordering them and gluing them.

I really don't see this new push for the Tau development as developing at all and I am hedging my bet that I'll be able to buy them all over again by the time the list is worked out.  I won't tell you when I think that will be - no sense in being all doom and gloom.

I haven't decided if I will post them here first or on eBay.  I want to recoup as much of my investment as I can, obviously.

For anyone who is wondering about my other armies - NO, I am not selling them.  I am not getting out of Epic.  I have plenty to keep me busy and I plan on continuing to participate here.

Please do not post offers until I manage to get the pictures up.  Thanks.

Man you should get a trustworthy board member from canada to get the actual printing and distro. of any books you might make done....
Seems the U.S tax man is lurking outside your windows at night just WAITING for some of that income to come in.

Sad news Mosc.

Personally I think Chroma's list is probably a better list even if it does re-instate Tau as a FF army. Less choices means there is a chance to get a balanced list out of it.

Yeah, that really sucks... try to do something good, and the Powers That Be come and get you!  And even if you got donations to help pay that off, that would be taxable too, no?  *sigh*

What happens if it was a "club issue"?
That is, if it was the annual membership paper for the International Epic Club of Canada.

Just a suggestion, I don't know your exact regulations.
It might be that it's just as well to bite the bullet and add VAT and be done.

To answer the questions...

Raiders will actually turn a profit once I sell the last six books.  It is all about the income, however.  Normally that wouldn't be a problem either but I've been hovering just below the next tax bracket and the gross income from Raiders would put me over the top, costing me more than I would care to say.  

I had to make this non-profit endeavor truly non-profit and that means becoming a non-profit organization (I.e. Raiders & Crusaders, Inc.)  But there are filing fees associated with that - $120 for the State of Pennsylvania and $300 for the IRS.  Once I am filed I am done and there is no annual fees for being non-profit.  The problem comes in where I have all these fees to pay upfront:

$397 fee to Mills Press for the account set up
$120 to the state
$300 to the feds

$797 that the sale of Raiders has to cover and that doesn't cover the printing costs.  This last order cost $580 upfront and I only had $300 pre-paid.  I am still holding six books which is $150 of books!  It adds up...

Long term I am not worried about the money and I am glad that I am in a position to help get more of these fan-made books to the printer so that others don't have to deal with the headache.  Mossino is around the corner, Black Crusade is being built, work on Xenos has begun, not to mention others that might pop up.  Those will all provide deep profits to Raiders & Crusaders and I will be happy to finally get some money to the American Cancer Society as was originally intended.  And once I am filed with the IRS I never have to worry about the taxes again.

I've decided to put them up on eBay.  Here is a teaser of what will be hitting eBay.  Sorry it took so long but work is killing me and -to be honest- it was a little painful handling all those little mini's and posing them for the pictures just to be sold.  UGH. :_(

They really are magnificent models.  I am hoping that they will serve their new master(s) well.
