In my admittedly limited experience, that looks about par for the course for Warmaster-based "gunfire" systems, they always seem to end up with groups of units banging away at each other with ranged firepower whilst manouevers bog down and stall. |

FWC, and it's sister games are best played with a scenario other than the meeting engagement. Then one side has to maneuver to complete the objective, which often leads to the other side moving in response. Not played FWC but I find BKC a fun game for WWII that allows the use of basic tactics with enough fog of war using the warmaster mechanic. |

I doubt they'll win hordes of coverts with a batrep like that. ![]() |

That was a bit bland, for the blood hungry GW fanatics...  ![]() Karegak and me tried FWC. Lots of mistakes etc, but it sure had heaps more action than that. Just we could agree to make a run at it again. 'Cause we sure didn't "play it by the actual rules"!  ![]() |

Seems to me the game ended where most WH40k games begin. That said: Quote: To enhance the 'epic' visual quality, most units have a number of stands (or vehicles) equal to the hit value. These stands are removed and replaced instead of marking hits. Some units have had the number of hits (i.e., stands) changed using the 'Creating Your Own Units' rules. Guard regular infantry was introduced since an army of 'conscripts' is inconsistent with the Gaunt novels. Was a particularly questionable home rule with the impact of a sharp increase in force to space ratios. Also, fairly curious because -- as I understand the rule -- it would involve plunking a lot of stands back on the table to reflect the fact that units are destroyed by a threshhold value of hits during the turn. |

Yeah it would. It's already enough sub-bookkeeping as it is without adding that. You spread your fire for suppression OR you concentrate to kill. One way to speed things up would be to declare "suppression" or "kill". Problem is that you might want to kill a severely hit unit once you start shooting to kill. All in all I think FWC should be run in 15mm. Not as skirmish, but with fireteam-bases. |
