Epic UK are pleased to present the updated World Eaters codex, which is considered 'live' for use from Winter Warmer onwards.

Primarily, the key issues for the World Eaters that we looked to address were that, as a close combat focused faction they struggled with FF engagements (as designed) but had major issues actually creating CC engagements.

Additionally, it was felt that they suffered from a lack of ground based AA, and a generally underperformance by the Lord of Battle.

To address these issues we standardised defilers to align them with the other Chaos factions, to give a ground based AA option.

A new special rule was added, 'Blood for the Blood God, which gives an enhanced move to Bezerkers, Terminators and the Lord of Battle when engaging if they can enter CC. We intentionally went with a new special rule rather than using Infiltrate, to ensure World Eaters didn't end up doing some very unkhorne flavoured clipping assaults.

Hopefully this improves the appeal & competitiveness of the World Eaters. We'd love to hear how everyone gets on with them, so feel free to get in touch by dropping a note to tournaments@epic-uk.co.uk with any feedback.

Please note that the updated World Eater Quick Reference file can be accessed via the Epic UK army lists page now, although due to some technical gremlins the main Chaos Space Marine codex is yet to be updated. We'll fix this as soon as we can, but in the meantime the World Eater Quick Ref document takes precedence over the main Chaos codex.

Thanks, and hopefully see some of you over the course of 2022.
The Epic UK team

Good to see another update to a faction that has long struggled to win :)

After multiple updates the core Berzerkers formation looks to be a strong formation now, with 8 plus 4 Rhinos for 275. Plus their new doubled assault special rule.

By focussing on improving these has the internal balance gone out of whack slightly with some of the other formations though? Particularly the Biker formation? These are now 75 points extra for a smaller unit (without free Rhinos), on average they get as many FF hits as the core formation does (for when that's relevant) and it seems like they would never competitively be taken.

very interesting updates and keen to give this a go. BFTBG adding 15cm but voiding FF attacks when used is a good take.

Evening folks, a quick update to say that the World Eaters codex has had a mini-update, following some feedback of the review we published at the start of 2022. The most notable change being the move of Jugganaughts into the Core formations

You can find the Codex here, and the updated Quick Ref here.

This updated Codex will be valid from Winter Warmer in January.

Cheers
Reedar
