Blip and the Exeter Inquisition club are proud to present the first EXETERminatus tournament!

What? A three-game 3k EpicUK tournament with a custom mission for game 2.

When? Saturday May 20th 2017, 9:30-19:00

Where? Exeter Scout HQ, Ashton Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter. Map & Directions, it's about a ten minute drive from the end of the M5.

How much? £15 per person. This doesn't include lunch as there are several fast food places and a large Sainsbury nearby, but tea and coffee are free at the venue.

Tickets available from http://exeter-inquisition.org/exeterminatus2017

The final version of the custom mission can be downloaded here and is heavily based on Matty_C's work at viewtopic.php?f=177&t=31785

Feedback and test games of the custom mission will be much appreciated!

P.S. Credit to kyussinchains for the event name... >:D

The start and end times are fixed, but we may tweak the timing of the individual rounds to give the Border War mission a bit longer.

A new draft version of the custom mission is up, with changes in purple: http://ijw.on-rev.com/temp/exeterminatu ... r_v0.3.pdf

I've changed objective checks to before rallying so that Fearless formations get less of an advantage from 'break and run forwards the objectives!'.

I've also added a note for formations like Plague Zombies that can contest but not hold in normal games.

The mission counts number of units in range - doesn't this heavily favour horde type armies?

A single Steel Legion mech inf. co. Is 21 units unupgraded, a marine army may well be 30 units total. Further it heavily disfavours lists that rely on off table shenanigans such as drop lists or dark eldar whilst also opening up theoretical silliness with things like Necrons partaking in for scoring purposes and otherwise being off table as they can portal on then off again.

I must admit, when I first saw it I thought Feral Orks will love that! But very happy to test out the theoryhammer.

One slightly faffy thing worth considering would be - do it by total points value of the units in range at the end of the turn. Means a near 1000 point warlord could contest over a 225pt infantry co.

First off, I do have concerns myself about horde armies in this mission (especially Reedar's Speed Freeks), and that's the primary reason we're asking people to playtest the mission so far ahead of time.

On the other hand, one of the reasons for running a custom mission is to shake up the usual balance of forces and units!

Hordes - you'd think so, but so far we've found that horde armies have an advantage in the first couple of turns, then fall off in turns three and four as their numbers drop. This is especially true if the horde army is facing spaceships or barrages because they have to bunch up more than usual.

For Necrons I'll have to check the exact wording on Portals etc, but I suspect that the need to have multiple units on the table in every End Phase will force the Necron player to leave more formations on the table than they normally do.

Points cost vs units - I'm not sure it's doable, considering the number of mixed formations in the game. :(

Fair point IJW. Does the game last 4 turns then or 3?

Mark and I can try this horde vs non horde (maybe Speed Freaks vs DE) and see how it goes!

Four turns, and that would be much appreciated.
