hi all,
Deadline for Online Registration is October 14thOnsite Registration is November 4-5This year we changed up things. Instead of hosting our own tournament we are running it in conjunction with the Historical Convention in Lancaster PA, called Fall-In. Below are the details of the tournament. The main thing to remember is you must register for Fall-In through the HMGS site listed below in order to participate in the tourney. Any questions email me (see below) or post here. Hope to see many more this year.
We have been getting many questions about this year's plans and I hope this summary helps.
November 4-6 we will be joining the Fall In! gaming convention in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Fall In! is a very large tabletop miniature wargaming convention that focuses on military history. The theme of this year is "Poland Through the Ages From Duchy to Republic".
While there are tons of clubs that work with the theme of the convention, there are even more that use different rules, miniature scales, time periods as well as numerous genres.
The convention is held at the Lancaster Host Resort so there are many concession stands for food and beverages and tons of space for all the wonderful games. The Lancaster area is also known for many tourist attractions and retail shopping outlets so there are many activities for the whole family.
One of my favorite features is the Flea Market, known as Wally's Basement. Here you can find all kinds of goodies from other gamers who are looking to thin their own collections. Flea Market Tables are available for a fee to HMGS members but shopping is free to all convention badge holders.
Vending. Yep, a single word sentence is appropriate! The scale of vending is beyond what most convention attendees could even imagine. There are, of course, a large majority of vendors that specialize in historical models but you can also find Pulp, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and many other themes in one of the largest hobby shopping centers in North America (even though it is only for a weekend)!
Hobby University - there are many excellent seminars for learning techniques as well as competitions for scale modelling and painting.
Charity Fund Raising - We will be suspending our usual charity, the Chris Bledsoe Memorial Fund Raiser, for this fall and just work with the established charities of Fall In! including Toys for Tots. The Chris Bledsoe Memorial Fund Raiser will continue and future info will be shared here as we get it.
Our club will be hosting:
Battlefleet Gothic GT
Epic Armageddon Tournament
MechaniCon's version of Throne of Skulls
Friday Night Fight - large scale 40k with titans and gargantuan creatures
Open Gaming
Bring and Battle events on Saturday evening
Even though many of our club members have often been a Game Master at HMGS events, this is our first time merging MechaniCon with them. This means that we will have smaller player caps for some events. That being said, just because you were not able to get a ticket to the Mech GT for example, there will be a ton of great games and activities for those who attend the convention and your support will just help us get bigger in the future. Side events like the Pub Quiz which has always been a part of the 40K event will be separated off so other gamers may participate, not just the GT ticket holders - and the same will hold true for some of the painting competitions.
I hope that this info helps you decide to join us in November and you can start booking hotel accommodations at one of the many facilities in the area. Registration is scheduled to open on September 23rd and we will have details on how to get your convention badges, publish event packs, and register for individual events in the coming weeks.
