Guess this is mostly of interests for those in Sweden. I will host a minigeddon tournament on Friday evening during GothCon (the third of April). The rest of the time there will be tables available for dropping in to play minigeddon or full version. http://www.gothcon.se/xxxix/arrangemang ... -turnering |

Nice! Was considering joining, but Real Life (tm) had other plans... Never tried minigeddon, but it looks like fun. |

Hi Peta, looks like it was a lot of fun. Did the rules go down well? Any suggestions on amends? If you have them, I'd love to have the lists for the site so other players can be inspired. Thanks |

And my list was Deff skulls, 990 POINTS Ghazgkhull Thraka's War Horde (NetEA Tournament Pack 2013) ================================================== WARBAND [340] 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz, 2 Grotz, 4 Battlewagon KULT OF SPEED [275] 3 Warbuggy, 6 Warbike, 2 Skorcha BLITZ BRIGADE [150] 4 Gunwagon MEKBOY GUNZMOB (BIG) [225] 10 Big Gunz About the rules. They did go done well. There where two newcomers in the tournament, that hadn't played epic before or in a long time. They both grasped the rules during the first game and had lot of fun. There is obviously some balance changes in between the armies. Steel legions for instance is difficult to build a varied list for since the almost mandatory 400 pts HQ (or alot of slow units). The ferals that won I think is an army that gain from the format since the board is smaller they are not that hampered by their slow speed, and they have alot of small units. But it is in no way that it feels unbalanced. It just shift the armies around little. The biggest issue I have with the format after the tournament is that due to the low numbers of formation luck takes a bigger place in the game. If you loose an formation in turn one or early turn 2 you are at a much bigger disadvantage then if you lost it in a 3000pt game. We had some 6-1 assault resolutions that really hurt the looser and some cases where the loss or win of the strategy roll more or less decided the game since then one side could assault the other first. But that was also appreciated by the beginners. They ended on third respectively forth place. But someone really competitive would probably not like it. That said it was no talk that the best player won, Karegak gave my orks a real beating in the game we met (as well as in a game we had as a warm-up with different armies before the tournament) The biggest advantage of the rules, and that I think all agree was the time it took to play a game. This was on a convent scheduled in 5h sessions. So people often want to do alot of different things and are reluctant to spend the whole convent or a whole day on one game. We managed to finish the entire tournament with three games per person on those five hours. Also the short game time meant that those that finished early at most had to wait half an hour for the next game. So that was a lot of action in a short time and then a lot of time for people to play other games they enjoy. |

I got lucky and faced both of the newbies. The list had two weaknesses; very limited shooting and only two units that could access buildings. I agree with Peta on the strengths. |
