The 2nd Epic European Championship will take place in Birmingham UK on May 30-31 2015 at the UK Games Expo. VENUE The UK Game Expo at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/ This is a large convention with lots of traders and tournaments held in the conference facilities of the hotel. Epic UK have held a tournament there for the last 2 years. The hotel is at Birmingham International airport and there is a free shuttle bus from the airport itself. COST Price will be £24 per team member (which includes entry to the Expo) which can be paid to me via paypal or bank transfer. TOURNAMENT Space is at a premium at the Expo so we have a limit of 16 tables. Therefore we have space for 8 teams of 4 players. Of those 8 places 6 will be reserved for national teams initially, the other 2 are open. If for example 8 Germans are interested in coming then 4 could take their national slot and 4 an open slot. The open slots will be filled on a first come-first served basis. Each player will play 5 3k games, 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. All rounds will be all the members of 1 team vs all the members of another team, for the first round the matchups within teams will be drawn at random after that it will be done on a Swiss basis (for example the Swede with most points plays the Finn with the most points, the Swede with the 2nd most points plays the Finn with the 2nd most points etc etc). Scoring will be done using the Epic UK scoring table. For each round the score for the 4 players of a team will be added together and if they score more than the score of the 4 players they were playing the team will receive 20 bonus points. The final score for each team will be the points scored by each player in the team plus any bonus points. If we have 6 teams then each team will play each other team once, if we have 8 the first round will be random and then matchups will be determined using the Swiss system. All terrain will be provided for the event in accordance with the Epic Armageddon rulebook. ARMIES Each team of 4 can only use a race once per team, legal armies will be all the lists here http://epic-uk.co.uk/wp/army-lists/ on March 1st 2015. Lists must be submitted by May 7th. All armies must be fully painted. PRIZES Several companies have offered us prize support, rather than the usual prizes for 1-2-3 etc these will be distributed during the event for various accomplishments (first titan killed, first transport shot down etc.). The top 3 teams will receive similar trophies to the Berlin event. There will also be prizes for the best army and most sporting player. ACCOMADATION Rooms at the venue http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/pers ... .mc_id=POG are on sale now currently at £66 per night for a single and £99.30 for a twin. These rooms do sell out. I'm certainly interested. Probably as a "fill in"as I don't think I'll make the UK A team ! ;-) I've already expressed an interest in my clubs annual trip to Birmingham expecting an EpicUK tournament anyway, so if nothing else I'll come along to cheer! :-) |

The banter would be amazing! ![]() ![]() |

Even so the answer to those question look obvious, I'd like to spell them out, because obvious might be different for different people and obvious might not be right. I assume "race" is what you call "codex" on the uk website ? If so you can have two chaos lists, one BL and one Chaos SM ? Will all the armylists be available to all teams before the tournament ? Will the Swiss sytem be strict or loose ? I.e can teams play each other more than once when 7 or more teams show up, will teams play each other more than necessary when less than 6 show up ? The same for players. If teams play twice, will it be prevented that players play each other more than once ? Anything else that will be prevented ? I.e. Playing against the same race more than whatever ? Will the tables be identical ? If not may I end up on the same table more than once? |

Race = Codex, all Chaos Marine lists are in one codex so your example wouldn't be ok. Lost and the damned are seperate so would be ok. Armylists - all lists will be on the Epic UK site before March. If you mean selected lists I'll email them to Captains/spokesmen as this year. Swiss system is loose so you won't play the same player twice, anyway there will definitely be at least 6 teams. As this year there is nothing to prevent you playing the same race more than once, however with 32 lists to choose from I would hope it would be a minimal issue. If you end up with multiple games on 1 table speak to a ref who will swap tables. Tables will not be identical but should not be game altering. |

Largo_W wrote: Which versikn of the codices will apply? This years or the fresh ones of the upcoming year? I read something about a review at the end of the year? There will be an update of several lists in December /January and 1-2 new lists. Most probably that will be the last chance pre March. I simply set the date as a hard clear cut off. Largo and Brumbaer will you be entering a combined Germany team or 2 teams? |

Post subject: | Re: Epic European Championship 2015 Birmingham 30th-31st |
Thanks for the answers, Steve. This year we will have a qualification tournament for the "national" team. Up tp now, we have 7 people interested including Largo and myself. There are others who would be intersted, but doubt their abilities to compete. So we will field a national team for sure and might be fielding a second team, depending on the success of drawing more people in or the success of psycological treatment regarding self-doubt. For the time being I'll be the team captain for the national team. Who will be captain of the potential second team, will be decided when and if it will be formed. Largo anything to add ? |

Just to highlight one of the bits on Steve's starting e-mail, hotel rooms at the Hilton are limited numbers wise at the prices shown, and if you do want to stay there i'd highly recommend getting them booked as soon as possible as the non-discounted prices can get VERY expensive. There are a number of other hotels nearby, but definitely not as convenient as most you'd have to drive to the venue or take a taxi. Oh, and if you want to do some games shopping and general boardgaming, the venue is fully open on the Friday as well as the Saturday and Sunday ![]() |
