Post subject: | Small UK sci-fi show....? |
I am looking into doing a sci-fi show next year in Bristol. My plan/idea is to have all scales (I know...) of games on show but they are all about the sci-fi. My want is to see lots of exciting sci-fi games and to be able to ogle the goodness. My need though is to not be out of pocket. As such I am guessing (still not done my sums yet) that I will have to charge £10.00 for a 6' x 4' table which will seat up to 4 people. (So if 4 of you are at 1 table it is only £2.50 each) Now this won’t cover my costs so I will be bringing my stock to sell and hopefully make up the difference. Tea and Coffee will be free all day. There will be sandwiches and snacks available at a very good rate too. I have not approached any traders or gamers yet directly, but wondered if the vagueness of ait all sounds appealing in any way? Perhaps myself or my brother could bring Troublemaker Games models along to show off Timeline 300... |

That would be pukka. A trade stand with goods to sell on the day would be a very reasonable fee too. ![]() Would Bristol not be too far for a new small show though? I will of course be shoving it in as many peoples faces as I can to try and create much awareness, though I can't promise hundreds of people will be there, with cash in hand... |

My brother lives in London, and his other half has family in your end of the planet... the stars might align for a visit for him. |

I think that the location of something like this would be key. People will drive for 4 hours to get to Salute, but will really only visit a smaller event if it is easy/quick to get to and doesnt clash with anything else. That said, I think that you are more likely to get people with a niche and I am not aware of other science fiction specific events in the UK, so thats great. |

you should message ManofKent or Stu's Idle - they nominally run the Bristol 6mm club, and like most gamers have links to other groups and scales too. EDIT: corrected Stu's forum name |

This sounds great to me (since I live in Bristol). With enough notice I should be able to drum up some more players. |

Bristol would be too far for me ordinarily. Though I have an ex in Bristol who might sway me. |

Hi folks. I just wanted to let you know that some more traders have confirmed their attendance to the sci-fi themed Blast-Tastic! show next year. Some are travelling a fair old distance to be there too, so fair play to them, why not make it worth their while and pop along to enjoy the Blast-Tasticness of it all. The room I have hired is approaching capacity so if I continue to get people wanting to come then I may need to look at hiring extra rooms at the venue to accommodate all the sci-fi greatness! Spread the word: http://blast-tastic.blogspot.co.uk/ Michael. |

Hi AB :-) Sorry I haven't weighed in on this quite yet; new business opens this Saturday!!! I have something BIG that you may wish to host and that's I've been busy planning for well over a year now...initially as an Epic:Roadshow type project to take around all the shows as they arrive but also for my own ridiculous indulgence of putting my two biggest collections of Epic mini's head to head. I introduce to you: ASSAULT ON BATTERY 9! AoB9 is a 20,000pt (10k per side) Epic:Armageddon Scenario that pitches Imperial Seige Troops and their Titan Legions allies in a desperate push to repel an Ork attack of immense size from an attempt to quell a strategically important Artillery Battery. Taking place on a fully detailed and sculpted 8'X6' war torn board including seige lines, a ruined city, dying woods and all the normal spoils of war you'd expect AoB9 brings together two topnotch collections of Epic Miniatures to do battle like you've never seen before! So; interstesd!? Only Catch is the game definitely needs more than 6 hours to play! I'm sure me and the lads from Bristol Epic Club would be happy to play, talk people through the game, showcase the miniatures and all the usual (non)trade-stand type stuff that's needed. |
