Tickets for the Epic UK GT are now on sale, as in past years this will be a 2 day tournament of 5 3k games at Maelstrom in Mansfleld. Tickets are £25 and available here http://epic-uk.co.uk/wp/event-calendar/epic-uk-gt/ Lunch is included both days. Prizes will be exclusive commissioned artwork As in past years there will be the saturday night curry trip and also the Epic UK AGM. Hopefully we'll see a lot of you there for the final event of a very successful tournament season. |

Hi guys! I've been wanting to visit the UK for a while. This could be a good reason. A question to you English fellows. Do you by any chance know which would be the closest big-ish (eg have international flights) airport to mansfield? Is it birmingham? cheers |

If there are flights I'd say either the East Midlands Airport or Robin Hood (Doncaster) airports are the closest. |

East Midlands will be the closest. Though if you end up at either Luton or Stanstead your looking at a 2 hour drive (if car hire after is the plan). Train wise not sure how they all connect but I guess they must do somehow? |

East midlands, Doncaster or Humberside would be closest, not sure if they would have flights to Sweden though. Manchester or Birmingham might be more likely |

thanks guys! I did some looking around swedish sites and I found a suitable flight to/for Birmingham for 110£, not overly much. If I want ryanair prices then I'll have to go to standsted, but that's ok 'cause then I'd be able to look around London for a day or two. It's a possibility at least. It depends on when, if and where I get a new jobb. (was informed this week that the hospital were I work needs to cut down on the number of doctors, so I only have a month left). cheers |

It's unlikely you'd be able to fly into anywhere in time on the morning of the tournament, so I wouldn't worry about which one. Consider car hire, it may well work out cheaper than train+taxi to the venue. If you take public transport, bear in mind that the journey from Birmingham is probably only about half an hour longer than East Midlands and a bit easier. That's because it has a train station - with EMA you need to get a connecting bus to Derby or Nottingham first. From central London it'd be quite easy on the train - direct to Nottingham then change for Mansfield. I'm willing to bet it'd take about the same time as from Birmingham Airport. You'd still need to go up the night before though. You may find there are others coming up from the London area though. |

If you're going from Manchester, there's always a chance that one of the FO lads can pick you up and drop you back. I'll probably be going (Permission from SWMBO pending...) and don't mind picking up a fellow geeky man and putting them up for the night. I'm only 15 mins from the airport too. All for the low price of a contribution to the petrol (+ If it means I have to stay sober to drive I might actually win a game!) Watch this space.... |

Thanks for the helpful attitude with tips on airports guys! I got a new job and didn't want to ask for a few days off the first month, so I'll have to pass this time. It could be a good thing though. I heard that Dark Eldar is the next armylist EpicUK will work on, which is an army I'm currently working on/converting and would rather play. So waiting until next year is all good. Cheers! |
