Any of the players have any interesting tales to tell? I know I hate Squat artillery even more after today (but since I like Duro so much, I'll forgive him  )! More updates next week. Cheers for now, Steve. |

What kind of artillery? We actually stopped playing the Demiurg list in large part because of the phenomenal undercosting of the mole mortars. |

Hmmm, yeah. Let's see if I can remember my comments about Demiug artillery... I think there are issues with both the Mole Mortars and the Goliath Mega Cannons. Demiurg Mole Mortars are seem to have the wrong abilities to me. They should be 30cm Indirect Fire with Ignore Cover only (no disrupt). Max of 6 per formation. Goliaths should keep their DC, range and armour value (5+ reinforced armour) but be only 3BP with Ignore Cover OR Macro Weapon (NOT BOTH). I think the latest Thurgrim list has gone a little too far in nerfing them. I do agree with a Strategy Rating of 2 for Squats (as in Thurgrim). Now, back on topic! Anyway, onto this weeks games. Week 2. A BIG thanks to the guys that have taken part so far. Still time for other players to join in the fun! Points after week 2: Chris - 12pts Steel Legion Steve - 11pts Iron Warriors Simon - 10pts Scions Of Iron (Space Marines) Matt - 9pts Necons Al - 8pts Steel Legion Duro - 8pts Squats (Demiurg) John - 6pts Ymloc Craftworld (Eldar) Jason - 5pts Gargant Big Mob (Orks) Jack - 5pts Necons Scott - 4pts Minervan Tank Legion (Guard) Nath - 2pts Space Marines (Codex Marines) Drew - 2pts Mossinians (Rebel Guard) ![]() Game results: ■ Chris vs Scott – 3:0 (DTF, TSNP & TnH) ■ Simon vs Jack – 2:0 (DTF & TSNP) ■ Al vs Duro – 3:1 (BTS, DTF & TSNP – BTS) ■ Chris vs Simon – 4:0 (DTF, Blitz, BTS & TNH) ■ Steve vs John – 2:0 (Blitz & TNH) Photos from the games: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() - John and Al are picking the game up quickly. - Jack had some rotten luck and it cost him big time. - Chris carried on his winning ways. He's picked up the Steel Legion play-style quickly although the lack of maneuverability is a challenge. - Scott and Duro failed a few key activations which was frustrating for them both! - Al fell in love with Imperial Guard artillery. - John learnt to hate Iron Warriors artillery. There are a few more photos on my blog. Cheers. |

Week 3. 8 players turned out for week 3 including Georg (who has been playing Epic for a couple of years now) and Nick (who is a new player to epic). This week we are up to 3000pt games. Points: Matt – 15pts Necron Chris – 15pts Steel Legion Simon – 14pts Scions Of Iron (Space Marines) Steve – 13pts Iron Warriors Al – 11pts Steel Legion Duro – 8pts Squats (Demiurg) John – 8pts Yme-Loc Craftworld (Eldar) Jack – 7pts Necons Jason – 5pts Gargant Big Mob (Orks) Nick – 4pts Steel Legion Scott – 4pts Minervan Tank Legion (Guard) Georg – 4pts Fir Iolarion Eldar Titan Clan Nath – 2pts Space Marines (Codex Marines) Drew – 2pts Mossinians (Rebel Guard) ![]() Game results for this week: ■ Chris vs Nick – 3:0 (Blitz, DTF & TSNP) ■ Matt vs Jack – 3:2 (Blitz, TnH & BTS – Blitz & TnH) ■ Georg vs Simon – 2:0 (TnH & Blitz) ■ Matt vs Steve – 2-1 (DTF & TSNP – BTS) ■ Al vs John – 2:0 (DTF & TSNP) ■ Simon vs Nick – 3:0 (Blitz, DTF & TnH) Jack and I gave Matt a run for his money but he is still undefeated for the campaign. Unfortunately for Matt, he'll miss the last week due to work commitments. So Chris and Simon are in with the best chance if they are able to turn up this weekend. Here's a few photos of the week 3 games. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ■ Nick’s new wonderful Guard army is all made using Dark Realm Miniatures. ■ Both Matt’s games were very close but he’s managed to play 5 games and go undefeated. ■ The Iron Warriors Ordintus is a BEAST and I love it! ■ John continued to have the worst luck of all the campaign players. ■ Simon’s Terminators had a fair crack at Georg’s (headless due to still being a WIP) Warlock titan and put 11 hits on it! Unforunately only 3 points of damage got through the holofield and reinforced armour… ■ Al REALLY loves his Manticore artillery now! There are a few more photos on my blog. Onto the final week of the campaign! |

Necron vs Necron (Matt vs Jack) Witness the Planetary Doom that is an Necron Civil War - when two armies compete to harvest the same world, those who die early are the lucky ones. Monoliths and pylons beging to warp in, both sides accumulating blast markers in their haste. ![]() The battle would start at point blank range and continue to be fought just outside each army's control zones for the entire match. ![]() My opponent's fleet featured the Orb, a collossal war machine that towered over my monoliths. ![]() We were just fortunate the armies' monoliths and obelisks were different designs! ![]() After the orb fell to a massive assault from my 600 point 'Sledgehammer' infantry formation and a monolith and obilisk maniple, the game began to move in my favour. After that, it was a matter of taking the enemy Blitz and Take And Hold objectives, which I was able to do in style thanks to a huge amount of warriors and immortals from the large formations managing to survive the game. ![]() The game ended 3-2, and in true Necron style neither of us had a single unit on our own side of the table and we both took Blitz and T&H! ![]() Necrons vs Iron Warriors Matt vs Steve (better known as Onyx) The next opponet was Steve who had his 'Ordinatus' doom gun along for the ride - this is an amazing piece of artillery, as long as he can protect it. Here's a shot of a lot of huggy Chaos marines protecting it as Monoliths start to warp in. ![]() Chaos deployment: ![]() Monoliths teleport in behind cover. ![]() For two turns combat centered around his deployment zone. I new I was sending warriors to their death, but it had to be done: All it takes is 2 casualties from the Ordinatus to break an enemy formation of 10 units - 2 from casualties, and 3 from just being shot at with such a heavy weapon. Since it kills most things on a 4+ with Macro Disrupt, that means it generally kills half of whatever the three blast templates touch and thus almost certainly insta-breaks them- very very nasty. However it finally gives me an excuse to use one of the new smilies on Tactical Command: ![]() ![]() ![]() Most things that could go wrong for me in this game did; my BTS never made it back onto the board, I started turns with most things broken by blast markers or the Ordinatus' first shots, Warrior formations came through portals to assault and were broken by overwatch and pylons missed their shots. The Ordinatus managed to go through the whole game without even a blast marker on it However, after one piece of luck in killing most of a terminator formation in assault and a complete change of plan to playing for the defensive objectives (the what? lol) I managed to steal a win out from under the Iron Warrior's noses. I honestly thought Steve would have this one in the bag. Don't you just love objectives? ![]() |

So, the final week of our campaign! We had 8 players bring their armies along for the final week (including another new player – Cam). There were six games played at 3000pts. Game results: ■ Chris vs Drew – 3:0 (Blitz, DTF & BTS) ■ Duro vs Simon – 2:1 (TnH & Blitz – BTS) ■ Steve vs John – 0:0 Victory point win to Steve ■ Al vs Cam – 2:0 ((BTS & DTF) ■ John vs Duro – 0:0 Victory point win to John ■ Steve vs Simon – 0:0 Victory point win to Steve Photos from the final week: Simons Marines take on Duro’s Demiurg Squats. ![]() ![]() ![]() Chris' Steel Legion vs Drew's Mossinians. ![]() John's Yme-Loc Eldar vs my Iron Warriors. ![]() ![]() ![]() Cam's Orks vs Al's Steel Legion Guard. ![]() ![]() John's Eldar vs Duro's Squats. ![]() Simon's Marines vs my Iron Warriors. ![]() ![]() The campaign map. ![]() Final Standings. Simon – 18pts Scions Of Iron (Space Marines) Chris – 18pts Steel Legion Steve – 18pts Iron Warriors Matt – 15pts Necron Al – 14pts Steel Legion Duro – 13pts Squats (Demiurg) John – 12pts Yme-Loc Craftworld (Eldar) Jack – 7pts Necons Jason – 5pts Gargant Big Mob (Orks) Nick – 4pts Steel Legion Scott – 4pts Minervan Tank Legion (Guard) Georg – 4pts Fir Iolarion Eldar Titan Clan Drew – 4pts Mossinians (Rebel Guard) Nath – 2pts Space Marines (Codex Marines) Cam – 2pts Orks (Ghazgkhull’s War Horde) With 3 players all finishing on 18 points it had to go to a count back. I had decided early on that I wanted to encourage participation in this campaign so the winners trophy went to Simon due to his 8 games played. Well done Simon! ![]() Simon (on the left) receiving his trophy. John (center) received the hard luck award (a bottle of Epic Armageddon beer from New Zealand) for a run of truly bad dice. It can only get better John! Statistics from the campaign. Total players = 15 New players to Epic during the campaign = 3 (John, Nick & Cam) Total number of games played during the 4 weeks – 28 Breakdown of Victory Goals acheived during the campaign: ■ Blitzkreig – 16 ■ Break Their Spirit – 15 ■ Take and Hold – 15 ■ They Shall Not Pass – 11 ■ Defend The Flag – 10 Once again, a BIG thanks to the fantastic guys at Tabletop Gamers Association. Awesome campaign! Love the use of Planetary Empires as a metamap (i've got two sets of them and a Mighty Empires box waiting in the queue). Fantastic armies but I have to give serious props especially to the Orks and Iron Warriors. Love this scenery. Seen it several times on the board and every time I just stop and look at it. Much of the industrial terrain was made using a Conflix Chemical Plant Construction Set. I've used a Pegasus Power Plant Construction Set in some of my newer industrial terrain. The BEAST in the last photo there is a terrain piece (we play it as a building). It's a land transport for my Iron Warriors (can carry a wing of planes or a couple of Super Heavy Tanks). The base for the kit was a 1/144 military hovercraft and the legs are from a 40K Defiler. Thanks for the kind comments guys. We had much fun in the campaign. It looks like Frosthammer will be running another 4 week campaign in November leading up to a one day tournament in December. Epic Armageddon is definitely growing in Perth, Western Australia! |
