"In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future there is only...CARDBOARD!!!!" Let's go back in time: to a land of 2d posed crazy miniatures, armies that make less sense than they do now, mission cards, bright green cacti with cocktail sticks coming out of them, wargear cards, vehicle cards, psychic cards, cardboard terrain, squads of 20 Goffs, 40 gretchin, 20 space marines that ALL LOOK THE SAME, cardboard dreadnoughts...and...RED!!!! Hey Kids! Who here remembers 2nd Edition Warhammer 40,000?! I do! It's what got me into gaming and, looking back, it was an uttely bonkers game! So, how do people feel about a proposal that we work towards a completely ridiculous day of 2nd ed gaming next xmas time at CnT? I'm talking about a BIG event here; something for all the local gamers to let their hair down, something full of fun, something to bring in punters from further afield: I want the shop RAMMED! And I want drunken gamers everywhere drinking from the honesty bar. We'd aim at making this a topnotch event, thus the reason I'm talking about it theoretically a whole year in advance! It's a great oppurtunity to collect that old skool army you've been banging on about for years and if a few of us put some cash in we could easily afford a copy of all the rules and Dark Millenium Expansion and maybe CnT could even get rid of some of those models hanging on the shelf :-) |

That sounds like fun. I have PDFs of all the 2nd ed rule books that I downloaded in a fit of nostalgia if anyone wants a copy. |

More than 80% chance I'd have the rules kicking about somewhere....maybe even Dark Millennium can't remember. |

2nd was the game that got me wargamming too. I remember getting the box set for Christmas ... and asking my uncle to help me understand the rules (didn't go well). I loved the game and it brings back joyous memories of me rushing down to my local GW, case in hand, and staying there as long as the shop would allow before being picked up, and thinking of all the battles I had thought on my way home. I would love to commit to this but it's just too far away for me to give a yes/no. I too have all the rules and, as best as I remember the rules, a 'big game' won't really be that good. The problem with 2nd edition was combat; you rolled for each man individually and so when 20 goffs charged 20 genestealers I just weeped as time rolled by slowly. Perhaps many small games would be better ... like a 500pt mini 2nd edition tournament kind of thing. |

Yes but in Necromunda you have 12/16 models ... not hundreds like what is being proposed ![]() |

And that is what 2nd ed 40k was really good at working with......I think it's really and excuse to drink lots of beer and laugh at small terminators if you read between the lines lol |

I'm proposing a 1500pt silly tourney, not a big game! |
