Hi all! As many now know the Bristol Winter Warmer is a once yearly event of truly epic proportions; in 2011 it,became the highest attended Epic Armageddon event in the UK with 30 players battling it out over two days.

The standard format has been a completely open, friendly and informal tournament where any army list, be it official to experimental, can be bought along; fancy trundling out your OGBM or rocking up with Squats? Please do! This happens on day 1.
After that we usually play something completely different; so far we've had an over night titan brawl (fuelled by beer) and and last year A massive themed city siege between orks and the imperium!

This year we aim to do something just as good if not better! There's still plenty of beer on tap for donation price, it's still hosted at the awesome CUT AND THRUST wargames in bristol; we've still got brilliant terrain and it's stil only two quid fifty per day! And this is where you folks come in!

What would people like at BWW2012? Should we stick to the 3k 1 day tourney format with something special on day 2? Howsabout a campaign weekend (though this is currently happening elsewhere). I've had the idea of a 2 day 5k 3 game tournament; how do people feel about that? Being out the big boys! Maybe we'll see some warlords for once!

My main concern is to get AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE together playing Epic Armageddon! Once we've reached a solid idea of what people would like to see then I'll get the ball rolling :)

It's gonna rock!
yrs,
Ryan

I'd love something similar to past year (notably the most well attended epic event on record, so it seems a popular format).

The result of the big mega battle was written into the Epic Mechanicus supplement, and anything that could produce something similar for another supplement would be cool IMO, be it campaign day or big battle.

Hmmmmm, to keep it as accessible as possible and get the same sorts of numbers I think you need to stick to the principles which have made BWW so popular in the past; open to all army lists, 1 day tourney of some sort on the sat, something unusual on the Sunday.

Maybe do 3x4k games on the Saturday if people would like to do something a bit different to the norm. Might get to see those biggers guns at 4k too....

Just a thought.

Cheers

How about as well as some other event on the Sunday we do a big Titan fight game imperials v's gargants?
Might not take long and could be fun?

i doubt that 2 days of tourney style gaming (just different pts) would appeal...

Likewise trying to cram war engine fights in, As Well As, a bigger game is going to be tricky...

Will think on things; see you tmw!

I like the sound of this for day two. Heck, any form of big game gets my vote!

For me, 1 day of gaming, whether campaign or tournament I don't care. Campaign could be interesting especially if it involves different objectives for each scenario and different army sizes. All those make for an interesting day.

I'd say 1 day tournament, (open lists) 1 day mega game is a pretty darn good format - stick with that I think.

By the sounds of it the general 1 day tourney 1 day something different seems to be the most popular and defining element of the BWW: I'm seeing my "Co co-ordinators" today and paying Cut and Thrust a visit so will be able to have a chat there and feedback here.

Seeing as other tourney days, campaign weekends etc are already happening I think it's safe to assume that we stick with the general pattern and just keep an eye out for it becoming a tired formula should it need spicing up.

I really like the big games as they are so much more sociable than playing singles!

any places left? it's a fair old trek for me, but sounds like a larf and I might be tempted to make the trip for some post-christmas depression relief....

Cool beans chaps!
Places are essentially unlimited! We've got access to a good 20 tables and items turn up and pay as opposed to booking tickets; very informal!

Based conversations on here and with the rest of the ww crew we'll be following exactly the same formula as last year seeing as it was so popular!

One addendum though; I said it's 2.50 a day but the informal tourney/piss up day is really a fiver; some very kind people usually give us somw prizes that need paying for!
