What a great day! I'm shattered though... :)
Running a tournament and playing in it is just a little bit too much for me. Still, I had a BRILLIANT day.
My heartfelt thanks to Aaron, Chops, Chris, Duro, Jack, Jason, Matt, Olly and Tyson (and thanks to Georg who sadly couldn't make it - feel better soon mate). You guys are fantastic. A BIG thanks also to Adam and Cam of TGA. Couldn't have done it without you guys!

That looks like a fantastic event. Some of the armies are incredible.

What clarification did you end up using for barging w/ the WEs?

No barging friends, can barge enemies, friendly units in base contact with enemies must still be in contact with them when the barge move ends (which can result in a slight change of position of the friendly units, but also means they cannot leave a close combat), WE may not end moves on top of friendly infantry.

As far as I know it didn't actually come up though. I was the only person using mixed WE and Infantry formations, and using offensive doctrine I launched all the assaults and didn't actually need to make any infantry counter charges in any game.

Rule number 1 of tournament gaming, make your deployment look intimidating.

Rule number 2, whenever charging tanks with cavalry, make sure to bring a warhound for fire support.

Game 2 was on an appropriately frozen world defended by Chris's Space Wolves. Space Wolves are marines stripped of firepower to gain numbers and close combat ability, and Krieg are Guardsmen stripped of firepower for exactly the same reason. This would inevitably be a game of massed assaults.

Rough riding taun-tauns engaged by assault marines. They didn't win this engagement but took some marines with them, which is all anyone could ask.

The Assault of the day

In the final battle against Olly's Chaos Titan Legion, a trap was set in the middle of the battlefield, with 40 infantry stands and 4 gorgons deployed in the open opposite a Forge Knight formation. This was a huge gamble because the Titan army included Quake Cannons that can take out up to 20 men in the open at a time, but the huge threat of the Forge Knights had to be removed.
A warhound then assaulted the Knights on the far flank, forcing the Knights counter charge to be towards the infantry and preventing more than 1 entering the fight. With a plan this good, what could possibly go wrong?

What made this the assault of the day is that the Warhound, 40 Infantry stands and 4 War Engine transports then lit the knights up causing 17 hits .... of which Olly promptly saved 16! It's little wonder he went on to win a Blessing of the Emperor award for luck, most of his games featured equally unbelievable results against all odds.

Expect to see him banned from Vegas soon.


When the dust settled, I managed to win all the games with Krieg army without conceding a single goal point, not a bad result at all.

That's some characterful armies there! Like the Rams', Chaos Titans and obviously the Kriegers ;D And the terrain is awesome!!!

I hope we can pull off a similar campaign in the new year here in Copenhagen, using yours as inspiration Steve! Cheers mate
