JOE WINS IN BRISTOL EpicUKs first even in the south west saw players from as far afield as Rotherham, London, Nottingham and even Austria assemble at Bristols fantastic Cut&Thrust venue for Counterattack 2011. After 3 hard fought games last years overall champion Joe Jephson took his first tournament victory of the year, and the first tournament win for the new Tau armylist, with 2 wins and a draw. Rounding out the top 3, also both with 2 wins and a draw, were Dave Thomas (Codex SM) and Steve Gullick (Biel-tan Eldar). Special mention has to go to 2 locals - Ryan Downes who took his best ever result in 4th and Jon Mielcarek who took 5th in his first event. Dave retained the lead in the Championship from Steve with Joes victory jumping him up to 4th place. Jon also took a well deserved most sporting award after being nominated by all his opponents whilst Kevin Bott took the best army award with his Eldar after winning a dice off with Darren Reeks equally brilliant army. Cut&thrust was a most welcoming venue and thanks to all the players who made this an exceptinally friendly and relaxed tournament with very few easily rectified issues -see you all for Counterattack 2012! Tickets are now on sale for the next event in the calendat - BOTC at Maelstrom on July 9th-10th 1 Joe (Yme-loc) Tau 120 2 Dave (dptdexys) SM 116 3 Steve (steve54) BT Eldar 113 4 Ryan (man of kent) BT Eldar 105 5 JOn Orks 97 6 Alan (alansa) Orks 94 7 Kev (kev101) BT Eldar 90 8 Mike (miket) Tau 85 9 Darren (reedar) orks 84 10 Markus (mspaetauf) SM 81 11 Mark Steel legion 80 12 jez SM 70 |

Had a great time yesterday - massive thanks to EpicUK for organising, and Cut n Thrust for hosting! Also a seperate thanks to Steve for sorting out the final round table swap so I didn't have to play all three games on the same edge of the bottom table......! ![]() Some of us are heading back in today for some friendly games, if anyone's in the area, pop on down. Cheers Daz |

Yeah, I always have a great time at Cut n Thrust and would welcome another Epic UK event same time next year: we can share the venue between that and the Bristol Winter Warmer :-) Thanks for the Special Mention Steve! I tend to do alright with my Eldar...My first game against Joe could have ended up in a draw if an Orca had succesfully been shot down by my CAP nightwings but this would have put me up the table numbers for round two and I doubt I'd have done so well if I'd have been playing mid table league games after that...never know though! My thanks to both Joe, Darren and Markus (who have both been cursing my sneaky elves in space for a while...) for three great games and if there are any epic shennanigans going on this evening then I'll be sure to pop by. |
