The armies deploy:

And the Battle begins!
A mighty Emperor Titan stands guard over the entrance to the Hive:

As the rest of it's legion roam the field of battle hunting for prey:

Key locations Power Station Gamma and Hells Airfield quickly become hotbeds of activity as both sides attempt to gain a stragegic hold on the battlefields resources:

And Ork supply lines build during the war until this point are heavily bombarded in an attempt to cut off reinforcements

Whilst the breach in the Walls near one of the outlying Planetary Defence Laser towers will quikcly become another heavily contested objective:

Almost all of my pictures are of the mega battle.

This is the table setup.

Two of the objective zones granted special abilities:

The Airfield - The team that controlled the airfield were able to jam enemy aircraft communications, inflicting -1 to acitvate on all aircraft formations.

The Power Plant - The team that controlled the power plant were able to give 2 shields or power fields to any war engine in the end phase of each turn.

The Imperials deployed a shadowsword on top of the Port Hab as a defence laser, which was hillarious.

Ork Airforce:

Much like on Armageddon the Orks quickly gained Air Superiority through sheer numbers: towards the end of the war this had forced several elite chapters of Space Marines to move into a defensive role durnig the final battle that would decide a planets fate, despite brave attempts by the Black Templars to get through the flak and fighter cover of the Greenskin menace only 2 of thier 5 flights of thunderhawks made it through to lend support, many of the chapters dead littering the wreckage of thier aircraft around the foothills of Hell Mountain and the Shrine of Our Sister Incarnate...

I shall leave it to Ben to explain most of the rest of what happened as I'm sure his memory is better than mine!

Unfortunately, due to the inappropriate lens I brought along, my photos were worse!

Ork Stormboyz menaced the Stormhammers with their large zone of control, meaning that when they failed to activate, the Stormhammers were forced to move away in confusion rather than fight the enemy!

An Ork Lander settles down to shoot at the nearby Templar strike force, and is targeted by a Shadowsword "defence laser" on Overwatch. One DC of damage is inflicted on the Landa, and the boyz onboard then kill two Marine units and a Rhino.
