With the surprise opening of 'Cut and Thrust Wargaming' in Bristol it has suddenly become very easy for me to organise and run a tourney to fill the January slot in next years Epic Tourney Calendar. Details below: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ THE EPIC WINTER WARMER: SATURDAY & Sunday JANUARY THE 15-16th 2011, CUT AND THRUST WARGAMES STORE, BRISTOL, UK It's nearly free! Just pop on down on the day, and pay £2.50 to rent a table for the whole day plus a little extra to cover the cost of prizes (2.50)! Sunday big bash gaming is another £2.50 each so that's between a fiver and £7.50 for a weekend of top notch epic goodness (excluding beer money)! Prizes for: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Most Sporting, Underdog Army of the Day (least min/max'd), Bestest Looking Armies (players and judges choice), AND...the biggest wooden spoon the UK Epic Tournament scene has ever seen (subject to availability...)! Use any army you want! Tau, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, NEcrons, some wierd version of space marines? Who cares?! Just come and play some Epic Armageddon! (but don't be a dick about it or we'll smash off some points from your score :-)! ) 3 3000pt games, all bog standard tourney scenario: makes sure we're all on the same page and don't spend yonks organising ourselves around alternative scenarios. More than enough time in the evening for beers, pubs round the corner, drinks allowed in store, and Coffee, tea, chocolate on sale IN STORE!!! What more can a gamer want? NO CAP ON NUMBERS! It could be massif! Registration/Army Submission: Saturday 8th of January. Expressions of interest to Man of Kent via PM or here. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Discount for Tournament Go-ers Our Proud Sponsors 'Cut and Thrust Wargaming' are pleased to announce a MASSIVE 15% DISCOUNT to any Winter Warmer Attendees off of most available stock! They can get hold of Hordes, Warmachine, 40k, WFB, Flames of War, Malifaux...most things, Army Painter Products...etc. For LARGE ORDERS please feel free to RING THE STORE about a month in advance (2 weeks time) so as to make the most of it and guarantee it'll be in store on the day for you. Tis not a real english man that does not quaff Ale We've decided to get a keg of Bath Ale (or 2!) in for the weekend: A 1-2 (price TBA) gold coin donation will get you a 'ticket' which you can exchange for a fine pint :-). Cans of cider and lager may also be available for a smaller donation but the focus is on ALE!!! (Bring a tankard!) Winter Warmer Epic Bring and Buy! It's a Bring and Buy, at the Winter Warmer! (Epic related goods only please as we don't want to detract from the store's wares). Bring your unwanted minis and trade/sell/buy to your hearts delight. We'll be running this during lunch so have things ready to be displayed on one of several clear benches provided. Lunch will be a bit longer as we've no limit on when the tourney has to end proper (though I'm aiming for 6/7pm) Accommodation For those that are joining us for the Big Bash on Sunday day I thought I'd mention the obvious dearth of accommodation options that exist in Bristol. One good idea might be for all those that are staying over to get in touch with Bristol Backpackers and rent themselves out an exclusive Geek's only dormitory? I'll leave that up to you lot though. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ SCHEDULE Saturday 0900-0930: Arrive and Register 0930-1200: First Game 1200-1300: Lunch, Epic Bring and Buy. 1300-1530: Second Game 1530-1545: Armies set up and displayed for painting award points and judging. 1545-1815: Third Game 1815-1900: Help required with packing up, Tourney Scores Totted Up, Award Ceremony and THANKS! 1900+: Curry and Beer time! Very much up for this one, Bristol was my favourite tournament last year... ...if the January one goes well I'd love to see more Bristol events throughout the year, those northerners get all the fun! :-) |
