Forum members,
I do not know how many players live in the texas area, but would people be intrested in a epic get together in austin to play epic? If we can get 10 players who pony up $20 a piece we could rent a small "ball room" and have an epic throw down? Any takers? Please respond if you are intrested. thanks,

jimbo :yay:

trying for april 24th in round rock texas (just north of austin). I currently have 3 player from the houston area, as well as 2 from austin already. Would like to hit 10 players for a get together to cover the costs of the party hall. My brother lives in RR so he is helping to find the best place/price. This is not ment to be a tournament but a general get together meet and great and some crazy throwdowns. Might even be able to set up a swapmeet type table. The idea is for two days of gaming/get together, try out lists, maybe do a mini tourney to test our armies and then on sunday do mega battle. I think it sounds fun.

If I still lived in League City, I would be there, but have retired and moved to Myrtle Beach SC.  I will be there in spirit, Long Live the Empire.

Is that far from Fort Worth and if not, is that a firm date?

I'm in Katy (near Houston) and there's probably 2-3 more out of the rest who might make the effort.

Curious about something. Have you talked to BattleForge Games in Austin to see if they'd like to host? I'm thinking that if it fit in their schedule or the date could be worked around, free beats $20.

If you don't have any contacts there, let me know. I might be able to put you in touch with someone.

Jimbo-

I'm Curious as to why you are wanting to set it up for Austin?
The Epic group that meets at Asgard (Houston) is pretty stable (so I'm told),
and there are a large number of local conventions & such.
I love Austin, don't get me wrong: its kind of a long drive, though....

I'm "in" regardless, however.

Honda, Leviticus, Dwarf, Jimbo-

Where are you guys currently playing (if at all)?
I've got the minis & the rules, but Haven't made the 'jump' from NetEpic to E:A as yet.
I'm more than Willing to Play,
just as long as I don't have to be in a tournament situation.

Just a suggestion here:

I've organized and participated in both tournaments and Epic Days (where people just show up).  While tournaments have their appeal, they can push new players away.  Epic Days, on the other hand are great because you bring whatever you feel like, you play small games or large games, different armies each time, team play, and grudge matches.  This last Epic Day in Rockville was great because the only true goals were to 1) play against people we normally wouldn't; and 2) make fun of each other. We had one fella show up just to watch, another guy showed for half a day, and a couple of fellas showed up late.  No stress involved.

Connecticut, but I have a cousin in Dallas. I was planning on a visit some time this year. The end of April was, however, not when I was thinking of traveling.

@ volhstagg:
played at asguard last wednesday, actually took the day of from work so I could go play. The battle forge in austin would be fine , it really isnt ment to be a tournament more of a meet and greet with empasis on playing new people. I actually normally play at the GW store in tomball, about 45min from the house, asguard is over an hour away but i still like the store. The idea about austin was to pick a central location for players from dfw as well as from houston and san antonio. Basicly people all over the state could meet and play.

@Jimbo: We are not that far apart, we ought to be able to make some intermediate meet ups with a few of us.

@Volstagg: We play at Asgaard during the week. It had been on Thursdays, but we also do Wednesdays. We've recently done a couple of learner games of Epic and continue to pick up bystanders here and there.

We have a Facebook group "Houston Long Fangs" I would recommend joining. It's how we communicate with each other since we have people from E. San Antonio (me) to Clear Lake and Deer Park. Asgaard seems to be central for everyone and since it's a LFGS, we can use our non-GW miniature supported armies (e.g. Krieg, World Eaters).

I'm Ok with Austin as a location. It's not that big of a drive (~2+ hours) and if it makes more people available, then I think we should do it.

A few years ago we used to do a similar Meet n' Greet with Warmaster and in fact we had a series called the Texas GT (Get Togethers) that were pretty popular for a couple of years.

I think we can do the same for Epic.

The only thing I have played lately has been FOW at Montag's or at home.  Sadly, my one Epic comrade has been AWOL.  I do have large fully painted Space marine and IG armies and terrain ready to go.

We typically play SM2/TL rules but I have played a few games of E:A, but it has been years.  I'm not unwilling to play any Epic rule set aside from Firepower.  I'm not keen on tournament play either, definitely more inclined to just some good fun games with others.

I'm not opposed to a statewide gathering for Epic, sounds like a mini-con to me!  I am subject to the last minute jump through the flaming hoop work schedule though, so it is difficult to make a confirmation on that.

So tell me more about this stable Epic group at Asgard?
