Full Scale Assault: EPIC Tournament
27th March and a Gaming Day on the 28th March 2010

Its £7 for the one day event with three games (3,000 points) but no food (advise you to bring some with you; there are shops around the area but a little distance away). This is a great ‘one dayer’ to get you back into the swing of things; all the information you could possibly require can be taken from our website, either download it or email us( www.epic-uk.co.uk ).

EPIC UK is also planning on holding another EPIC gaming day – 28th March 2009. This isn't a tournament; we book the hall all day and you can play any game of EPIC, any size! Last year we had 2x 10,000pt battles! It costs £4 to attend the gaming day and this can be booked on our website just like the tournament.

If you haven’t got a Paypal account, or you don’t like entering tournaments online, fear not! Email EPIC UK (go to www.epic-uk.co.uk and click on the ‘contact us’ webpage) and let us know you want to enter this fantastic event and we will send you details on how to enter by cheque.

YOU CAN ENTER BOTH THE TOUNAMENT AND THE GAMING DAY!

To be guaranteed a place enter quickly, there are only 26 places for each event!

STOP PRESS - FREE FULL SCALE ASSAULT TICKET TO BE WON!

As EPIC UK are celebrating our first birthday we are feeling rather generous, so we've decided to allow one luckily person to win free entry to the Full Scale Assault tournament and gaming day. All you have to do is email: tournaments@epic-uk.co.uk with your name and your answer to the below question; the closest answer will win the ticket...

As it's our first birthday, this question is all about firsts. EPIC UK released its first official Codex (Space Marines) on the 1st April 2009. How many downloads off this document occurred within the first month?

Please submit your answer by the 9th February 2010.

Only a day and a bit to get you guess into Epic-UK.

It'd be nice if these Epic-UK tournament threads ever mentioned where the tournament is taking place. It's hardly inviting to newcomers to just assume that everyone will know.

Full Scale Assault takes place in the beautiful market town of Mansfield (alright it’s not really beautiful), just north of Nottingham.

At the Mansfield Gas Sports and Social club – more info here

Zombocom; Rug is indeed correct,

When we market our events we try to keep the information as interesting and as brief as possible (as I'm sure being faced with a page of text can also be quite of putting).

Once you've read that it's 3,000pts, that you can make the date, and that it appeals to you, we hope you will click on one of the links (three in the above post) to our website. On our website you will find more detailed information about the event. This will also allow you to find out about all of our other events.

However we always put our email address within our posts so, if you have anyother questions, you can email us.

I hope my above post explains EPIC UK's marketing stance in regards to events. Our recent analysis shows we are still getting new players each year so our marketing strategies must be doing something right  :)

So can you make it to Full Scale Assault this year; would be good to put a face to a name.

Thank you

Last year I tried to come to Full Scale Assault day 2 (IIRC) but your marketing had neatly neglected to mention the location both here, and on your website...

I'll probably come to day 2 this year. Will ask around mates who don't check this forum too.

I had no ill intent in my post, I just genuinely couldn't find the details of where it was being held. I brought it up because I've had a similar issue with Epic-UK ad threads before.

I followed the link in the post, but that link still doesn't say the location. In the end I had to go to the events calandar, then the full scale assault page to find out.

If it's a case of keeping the post simple, as a potential tournament attendee I'd rather have the location than the points value in the post, as the location is much more likely to sway me into going. Just something to bear in mind for future events; to me knowing the location is the number one most important thing for any event, even more important than the date.

Alas mansfield is too far for me to go.

Aye, re-reading it it wasn't as caustic as I first read it to be.

I did day 1 a couple of years ago, and had to start out bloody early to catch the first game... that's why I'm likely going to go to day 2 (as I tried to last year), as missing the first hour or two of the day won't matter.

That nasty early start is why I don't go to most of the tournaments, as they're mostly held in Nottingham or north of Nottingham.

Zombocom,

I know there wasn't any ill intent; it's interesting to see that the location takes priority over the date.

We'll take your comments onboard and look at the best way of altering our updates.

Thank you

I also agree that the information should be;

1 - Location (weeds out 95% of readers immediately)
2 - Date (weeds out a few more percentage points if they're busy that day \ weekend)
3 - Points value (weeds out a much smaller group as 90% of tournaments are 3k )

Rather than

1 - Date
2 - Points value
3 - Mystery egg hunt

And there lies the problem; we don't want to weed 95% of people out before they visit the website.

Even though the post is advertising Full Scale Assault we still want to advertise our other events. Therefore if someone has to see our 'tournament calendar' to find our where the tournament is being held, they may find it's too far away; however they will also see other events in which might be more convenient.

Swings and roundabouts

P.S. don't diss the Egg Hunt ... I like the Egg Hunt  :)

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but tournament calendar doesn't give out location data for the majority of events anyway (there are no clickable links for any of the other 7 events this year***) ?

So as it is I have no way of knowing where any of the events (except 'Epic London' which a newbie could presume would be in London!) is?

Personally I could make a guess that several will be at the Gas Club, and I think that the EPICUK GT is held in Warhammer World, and I vaguely know of 'Brıtcon' as something that happens up North somewhere, but I personally still don't know where several of those events are going to be even after checking the calendar... unless I'm missing something?

So if I don't know some of the locations, one could presume that a newbie would know less.

And what's a 'BotCH'?  :sulk:

***and the names of the EPICUK events never give out the location of the event. This came up when MoK was planning his event IIRC, and it's why it was named the 'Bristol Winter Warmer' and not just the 'Winter Warmer'.
