HOW WILL IT WORK?

The Bristol Winter Warmer is intented to give a unique tournament feel in a relaxed and open enviroment with the aims of allowing playtesting at a competitive level, the use of armies and miniatures that people can't usually field and, most importantly, providing epic scaled fun :-)

Over the course of the day we will be playing 3 different 'Total War' Scenarios at 3000pts: which ones will be announced and detailed after army list submittal as mentioned above. The result of this being that players will have to find new and exciting ways of fielding an army that is capable of handling any given situation. An army that specialises in drop podding or air assualting may not do so well if it finds itself on the ground being ambushed between engagements! Not to mention it would be missing out on much valued support!

SCEANRIO RULES
Once the three scenarios have been officially announced then each will be given an official document for this tournament based on Chroma's original work with clarifications and Tournament Errata applied if neccasary, details, links etc will appear here nearer the time.

SCORING POINTS
The tournament will be run using the now traditoinal Swiss System used by Epic UK. Where neccasary an identical points scoring system per game will created based on standard Epic UK GT Scenario point scoring system.
Bonus points will be, as ever, awarded for Sportsmanship and Painting.  Sportsmanship scores also give players an oppurtunity to rate the suitability of an opponents force.

PRIZES AND POSITIONS
Several Trophies and Prizes will be up for grabs for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best Army (Players and Judges Choice), Most Sporting and 'Wooden Spoon' positions.
In addition we can now reveal that we are having several special pieces sent to us! For 1st Prize the winner will walk away with a detachment of Krieg Gorgons, 2nd Prize will gain ownership of an Epic Scale Necron Pylon whilst 3rd prize will be gifted with a battery of Thudd Guns and thier accompanying Transports!
Additionally we are hoping to procure a prize for Players best painted and there will also be a super secret, rather rare, titbit as a consolidation prize; even the loser wins!
All of the above prizes have been donated/sourced from within the Taccomms community :-)

************Additional Details concerning how the event will run to appear here*********************
Notices of Updates will Appear in Thread

What Apocolocyntosis said.
I'm living with some keen painters from sept so should be able to get an army together (with luck), but I'm still a teeny bit short on actual playing experience.

Just like Rug I have two or three spare armies that I can lend out to those who don't have their own forces ready yet.

Excellent :-)

The Wiki told me 3.13; if 3.14 is the most current then that's the one we'll use.

See my next reply for a note on booking.

Wow! Such interest so quickly; thanks to those offering to lend miniatures thus far; if anyone get's in trouble it's a much appreciated gesture! But hey! You can easily use tourney attendance as an excuse to get your armies painted in time

APOC and MADDOCTOR: you'd both be very welcome to this event judging by what i've seen online thus far! Get cracking gents!

A NOTE ON PAYMENT/BOOKING

I'd just like to note that life will be easier the quicker people can get payment/cash confirmation of attendance to me; until then I can't currently pay for the hall and other such things so booking far ahead of time is very much appreciated (thankyou Rug!).
For those concerned we WILL be offering Refunds for the event using the same system as Epic UK (three weeks to cancel)

MoK, a word of caution:-  the "Epic-uk scoring system" is geared towards the E:A 'tournament' game with objectives etc. IIRC few if any of the scenarios use this approach, so I don't think it would work.

Also, given the principles stated in earlier posts, it may be better to hold this as a kind of pseudo campaign using a 'ladder' approach to organising games between two arbitrary groups of people rather than a formal competition as such.

I guess I agree with Gavin, if it's not using the tournament scenario, is it in actual fact a tournament?
