Updated link to Games Workshop Link. Games Day Baltimore Epic Tournament Check this thread out if you haven't seen it. It looks like GW has really gone out of their way to extend a welcome to Epic players for the Baltimore Games Day (in fact, all Games Day events). ? I initially complained about not having any support and now we have it. ?It is "put up or shut up" as I see it. ?I think it is important for us to make a showing at the Games Day events to show GW that Epic has a loyal following. ?If we can get enough of a turn-out for these events, who knows where it could lead? ?I'm not suggesting it will mean Epic becoming a core game or anything like that, but it might mean GW will think twice about cancelling the sales of miniatures when stocks run low. Who can make it to Baltimore Games Day? ?Please post here and let's see if we can fill some tables. Info June 14, 2008 Baltimore Convention Center One West Pratt St Baltimore, Maryland 21201 Schedule Convention center lobby opens: 8:00 am Tickets go on sale: 9:00 am Doors to the event open: 10:00 am Event ends: 6:00 pm Tickets Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. If you are planning on making any Forgeworld purchases, it is a good way to avoid shipping charges (which might pay for the entrance fee all by itself). |

If you want forgeworld, be sure to email them and let them know what you want to pick up at the event and tehy sometimes bring extra or your specific order al together. I'd show up, but I may have to work that day instead. I probably wont know until last minute. |

I will most likely bring my Demiurg, just to confuse and annoy. Yeah, I'm sure that'll convince GW that running an Epic tourney was a good idea. ![]() |

Spoke with Studderingdave today and he said that he'd show up for the tournament at Games Day as well. --- I received an email from Dave Taylor at GW and he mentioned a few things: Bad News - nobody would be able to assist so I'd be responsible for running it 100%. Good News - I can set the rules and the army lists, so teh Demiurg list will be welcome, if not expected. ![]() |

Sounds good! Something that might be a good idea then is to establish which army lists will be allowed as soon as possible. I, for example, only have a Daemonhunters army that's playable and painted, it is very unlikely that I'd be able to put anything else together. Would that be acceptable, do you reckon? Making a list of acceptable lists would be good know as early as possible so we can get acquainted with them all... like Demiurg... Having said I'm definately coming, I definately want to be coming. I, however, lack a car, so I'm not going to be able to give final confirmation for a while. |

Mosc On army lists, I am having to do some soul searching regarding the "experimental" day for the London tournament I am running. Given that you have been made 100% responsible for this, could I respectfully suggest at least trying to stick with the "official" army lists in the SG vault because they are easier for everyone to work with (including yourself ![]() ![]() As GW have done an amazing about-turn on this, IMHO it might be more tactfull to toe the line on this occasion, proving that E:A is still alive rather than rubbing salt into old wounds. Either way, you (and I) need to publish the "approved" list ASAP to allow people time to prepare. Also, as I said earlier, I strongly recommend using the WPS resources from this site to help run the tournament, which are freely available, and handle a lot of the standard issues. You can find what you need in the "WPS Stuff" tab |

I agree with Ginger that perhaps some limits should be placed on the forces used for this. The experimental lists are a judgemental call on your behalf, but I may simply be easier just to say any lists and rules current on the SG site on a specific date (with additional rules packs which you can make individual calls on). This would also help if 'normal gamers' ( ![]() Also, what is the GD policy on non-GW minis/conversions at the event? |

Also, what is the GD policy on non-GW minis/conversions at the event? Non-GW models (DRM, EW etc) will be banned. Conversions & scratchbuilds are fine. I highly recommend allowing the Tau (Lovely models) at your tourney... but probably not the Demiurg (Unless you don't fancy being invited back?). |

Tau, Nids, Necrons and Dark Eldar? So Marines (Core, Whitescar), Guard (Core, Downpowered Siege), Orks (Core, Freeks, Ferals), Eldar, Black Legion and Lost and Damned, then experimental lists Tau, Nids, Necrons and Dark Eldar. Hell if you could get one of each along it would be games day but in miniture! |

if anyone can bring extra amries that would be great so maybe the public that do not know about this acn get in on it, or at least a few games to play or even try it out. Can someone allowed to run demos? Imagine getting a dozen or more new poeple into it so much that they walk over to the GD store and order a bunch of epic stuff. THAT miight make an impression on the powers that be... |

(farseer @ Apr. 13 2008,10:47) QUOTE if anyone can bring extra amries that would be great so maybe the public that do not know about this acn get in on it, or at least a few games to play or even try it out. Can someone allowed to run demos? Imagine getting a dozen or more new poeple into it so much that they walk over to the GD store and order a bunch of epic stuff. ?THAT miight make an impression on the powers that be... Several things. The tournament will almost certainly have a maximum capacity. Probably around 12. Now, if we fill this capacity quickly enough, it may be possible to extend it. But don't assume we can simply take as many people as we like. Lending armies on-the-day seems a very bad idea and very odd for a tournament. Is this a tournament or an intro game? Plus it pretty much guarantees anyone lending an army is not getting all of their models back. I would suggest erring on the side of inclusiveness for the army lists. You really want as many people playing as possible. For my part, I have a daemonhunters army. My other army (Emperor's Children) is in a shambles and most of it is in England. So that's the only army I could bring. Maybe I could squeeze it into some unconvincing "counts as" Space Marine list. But I know the Daemonhunters are very popular due to the rather stonking (if goddamn fragile) grey knights. If you don't have an option for them, I suspect you will lose people. Including - as much of an Epic freak as I am - me, in all likelihood. I simply do not have the money for another Epic army right now and I have other things I would like to spend my time preparing for before Games Day - such as Golden Daemon. I don't want to sound petulant here - believe me, I'll be there if I can, and I'll sure hang around even if I can't play! - but the point is that if this is going through my head it may be putting others off too. |
