If you apply these points to last years tournies - Full scale assault, 2 open wars, GW GT, WPS CC, Britcon and DS GT

1 Joe Jephson ? 41
2 Tim Hunt ? 25
3 Dave Thomas ?24
4 Matt Arnold ? 20
5 Steve Gullick ? 18
5 Matt Otter ? ?18
7 Nathan Hoole ?14
8 Dave Bartley ?8
9 Bill Ely ?7
9 Scott Bennett ?7

Because I'm great I am ?

I think that just goes to show this scoring system can be thrown out by a single fanatic like me going to all the tournies.

Na scrap that Tim and Dave are has beens!!!
:D

As I made only 4 out of the 7 tournaments last year, I'm happy with my position.

As an old has been what is the tournament average per player oh great and good Joe ?:;):

Some quick thoughts here before everyone gets carried away :-

First and foremost, it is intended to be a light-hearted and fun way of viewing the UK tournament calendar. As Tim hinted above, people are not going to make all events for various reasons (akin to an engine failure in F1) and there are also going to be inequalities in the races (so Benetton made good for once). The point is rather that as Matt pointed out, we have a remarkably full calendar for a 'forgotten' game, so lets make the most of it.

Secondly, the results could have some small interest to the community at large in understanding the way the various armies are used, and how balanced they are. BUT USE WITH CAUTION. I do like Mephiston's idea of a database of results which could be used a number of ways, so, perhaps we can make some suggestions of statistics that we would find useful. After all, now that we seem to be getting over 12+ players in each competition we are starting to crank up a reasonable number of games in an essentially constant setting. Perhaps some of the following might be usefull:-
  • Army composition - which formations always appear or never appear in tournament lists?
  • The Win / Draw / loss ratios for armies (preferably by opponent race)
  • Possibly the objectives gained by each race Vs opposing race?
  • Possibly an analysis of the results of the different stages of the "average" competition
As you make these suggestions, do remember that we have to gather the data during a competition (highly unlikely during a game), so much as some might like to track the "Failed activation rate" by army (or person), this is probably not going to happen. Which does mean, perhaps fortunately, that you will not be able to prove who is the unluckiest between Bill and I (and now perhaps Kevin)  :p

Which tournament results do you not have Joe?

The numbers given include the following 13 tournaments

Open Wars 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8
Full Scale Assault 2006, 2008
Call To Arms 2006
WPS CC 2005, 2006, 2007
Dragon Slayers GT 2007
Britcon 2007

I think the main ones I am missing are Full Scale Assault 2007, Games Workshop GT 2007 and the WPS GT 2006.

Well I can remember who won Fury of Champions 2005 and Call to Arms 2005, other places are a bit more hazy.  :;):

Well I've started doing some basic design and I think I have a workable schema for basic stuff.

Could someone going to Open war gather results. A bonus would be if someone could present them in a similar format to the way the Britcon past results are formatted.

BHGS (go to britcon, past results, Epic(!))

The only missing bit of data is number of goals a game is won by (5-0, 3-2 etc). I can work out by how many each game was won by but not the breakdown.

Maybe the Eldar players just played better...? :)

Gavin plays eldar a fair bit and if history is to be believed will finish in the bottom 3! (Stats don't lie :)). They were my 06 army and I didn't trouble the top half of many tournaments.

I've just finished compiling a list of players that have attended at least one tournament since Jan 07 and it comes to a healthy 35!

I made a slight mistake on the eldar stats - from the tournament results I have they have one more loss than I gave them.

Wins - 56 (41%)
Draws - 36 (26%)
Loss - 45 (33%)

Of those 137 games as rug suggested a large proportion are myself and rug accounting for 65 (47%).

Unfortunately for rug his 37 games dont really bias the eldar results as he has the following record

Wins - 13 (35%)
Draws - 12 (32%)
Loss - 12 (32%)

Roundings accounting for the missing percent. About as close to the 33%/33%/33% optimum as could be expected.

Although my 28 games still account for a sizable portion of the eldar results (approx 20%) and my record is

Wins - 17 (61%)
Draws - 6 (21%)
Loss - 5 (18%)

Which might account for a slightly higher win ratio, but probably it doesnt account for the full ammount - leaving the conclusion most already had, that before the new skimmer rules and the dropping of spirit stones eldar were slightly overpowered.

As an aside Biggles accounts for only 8 of these games and amazingly they arnt all losses - theres even a win :O

:confuse:

I think the eldar need a real kick downwards :D ?,if my results against them are anything to go by (just kidding).
Personally I've had no problem facing them, having checked my records my tally is 7 wins(5 with marines,1 with guard and 1 with L+D) and 5 Draws/Tie Breakers (3 with marines 2 with guard) and no losses(0-2,1-2 etc. as in the GT rules).

@Tiny Tim,can you remember what army you used at Call to Arms 2006 was it Guard or Speed Freaks.

I too only attended 4 events last year so I think me and Tim should combine results to equal Joes attendances ?:;):

I returned with Guard for Call to Arms in 2006 & used my Speed Freaks for the WPS GT that year. I can see me dusting off one of these armies if we are going to progress this 'championship' further   competitive me  :confuse:

I have also used Eldar in a couple of tournaments and I think that Bill and I count for most of the Nid results, we even got to play each other once and the second tournament I was playing with a WE heavy list that wasn't expected to do well.
