I'll start this one up, although it would be great to see some of the other folks leave some feedback as well.

Tournament Overall
I was disappointed (like many others) that we had only six people show.  Technically seven people showed but the seventh got left out of things for obvious reasons.  The guys that did show up were good folks though.  I finally met Erik (Scarik) after years of emails on the Dark Eldar - it was good to meet the man behind the name.  Dave was a new meet for me as well and had a great demeanor.  TheCoach was there, braving a tournament as a new player and bringing a healthy level of interest and competition with him.  I get the impression he is going to be very difficult to beat at the next tourney.

The tournament was never truly resolved which always bugs me as a man with a moderate level of OCD, but the company was good and the shop where it was held was phenomenal.  It was a fun time.

My Games
Game 1. Scarab Conflict.  My Dark Eldar were matched against the Minervan Armored Legion controlled by Scarik.  Turn 1 was rather even for me but Turn 2 started with my Vessel of Pain scoring a Critical Hit on Scarik's Supreme Commander in the Stormhammer.  In a flash it was gone and it cost him several activation rolls for the game.  I hammered him hard this turn, but paid for it later.  I was naive enough to think I could get through the game with only a pair of fighter bombers for AA coverage and boy did it cost me.  I am realizing very quickly that Ravens are a MUST BUY for any 3000 point list.  Ravagers and Raiders are big fat targets for the Thunderbolt fighters (and I had two formations of them to deal with) and Scarik used them to their maximum effectiveness.  I lost by points at the end of Turn 4.  We didn't calculate it because we were up against a lunch break but my guess is victory went to the Minervans by 500-700 points.

Game 2.  Dark Eldar take on AMTL 3.11.  Now you may balk at the idea of the Dark Eldar fighting against Titans (I know I did having fought and lost against them before) but the new 3.11 list seems fairly balanced so far.  Dwarf Supreme had a low activation count and I swarmed his smaller formations with teleporters.  DS had no idea what to do with the Kashnarak other than shoot at it.  He was glad he did but it cost him two activations which probably saved my game.  The Dark Eldar danced around the Titans for four turns before scoring a victory of 100 points.

Game 3.  AMTL vs. Dark Eldar again.  Random teams, random armies.  2 vs 2.  Dave and I took the AMTL and played against Dwarf Supreme and ePilgrim using the Dark Eldar.  No communication between team members on tactics.  It was a funny game and the Dark Eldar died horribly at our hands.  Having now played the AMTL 3.11 list I can say it felt fairly easy, although construction of an army probably isn't.  This is one of those lists that should be on Army Builder.  Balance wise AMTL seemed okay - it's hard to judge seeing that I only participated in Dark Eldar games with them (for and against).  It is certainly a forgiving army and a new player need only learn how to build a list and remember to keep his activation count as high as possible.  I might change my mind on the list later on but for now I give it a thumbs up.

Sunday Game
I wil only comment that it was long, fun, and silly.  Necrons take on battling allies of Space Marines, Demiurg, and AMTL.

Thanks for your thoughts Moscovian.

Sounds like the lads had fun, despite the small numbers... from small Acorns, mighty Oaks will one day grow.

You guys have Oaks over there right? Or is the soil wrong for them?*

* As far as stretched metaphors go, that one was all kinds of lame.

A big thanks goes out to Moscovian and epilgrim from coming up, as well Scarik for riding out of the east. Again I'm sorry we weren't able to get our 8th player, but I'm hoping we can get some more converts in this coming year. Also, thanks to the coach who joined us. DS and I are looking forward to getting some more games in with him, traditionct and berzerkmonkey.

Let us know about NJ, I would certainly like to come down for another day of battle.

I have some general pictures for the day posted here:

There's also some pictures of our final battle on Saturday in there as well.  The highlight of the game was when the Kashnarak leaped into the air to tear the Vessel of Pain(?) apart in an assault resolution. It was a very odd assault to begin with as the thing couldn't hurt the skimmer.

I'll have pictures from our huge game on Sunday up soon. I'll also try to explain what we did and what happened, for now though let me say that the Necrons weren't as benign as Moscovian would lead you all to believe.

I played AMTL v3.11. My army was:

Warlord - 2 Quake cannons, a Volcano Cannon, a Carapace Landing Pad and Legate
Reaver - 2 Gatling Cannons and a Laser Burner
2 Warhounds - each armed with a Turbo Laser Destructor and a Vulcan Megabolter
1 formation of Forge Knights
1 Serf Levy
2 Thunderbolts

Game I:

I played ePilgrim's Demiurg. This was my first game ever against Demiurg; so, I didn't know quite what to expect. It was also my first game with AMTL v3. Demiurg won 3-1, but it was a close game that easily could've gone either way. For some reason ePilgrim had a strange fear of my Warlord   As for the Demiurg list, I gained a healthy respect for its air assets and it didn't seem overpowered.

Game II:

Another game of firsts. This time I played Dark Eldar for the first time. For this game, I was the one with an unnatural fear - of Dark Eldar in general, due to my unfamiliarity with them. Even though Moscovian won, I held my own. We came down to points and as Moscovian  mentioned he won by a measly 100 points.

Game III:

Since two players couldn't stay for round III, the remaining four of us   played a fun game. It was interesting playing with someone with the same army, but not being able to communicate with my team mate. Having played against Dark Eldar only once, I really had no idea how to play them properly. Moscovian was somewhat unfamiliar with playing AMTL, but Dave has played against it enough. Epilgrim and I lost horribly, but it was a very entertaining game.

Sunday:

Another entertaining game. We played on a 6' x 8' table with each player starting in a corner. To my left was Mosc's Necrons, to my right Dave's Marines and on the opposite corner ePilgrim's Demiurg. I played Knights with two Reavers in support. The Necrons had roughly 7k points, the rest of 4k each. Dave pulled out the win with excellent tactics.

Thoughts about AMTL 3.11:

I really believe this list is better than 2.0. My opponents would probably agree. I like the structure of it, but it would have nice to be able to have three support formations so that I could have spent a spare 100 points on Sentinels to get an extra activation, rather than spending it on a Titan. Now that I've played v3.11 a few times, I'm looking forward to playing the Tech Guard list.
