Anyway...

Just been told that the 'Olde Trip to Jerusalem' is a great pub to go to in Nottingham: if anyone is hitting the city after curry...?

don't know if Rock City (tm!) would quite be my thing but I'll see how I'm going...

My big cat hunting with my Steel Legion is going badly.

Game 1: Eldar (0-4 loss). Lost one of the Warhounds, and while I took out his Warlock Titan's holos on the first Shadowsword shot, and left his Avatar, Void Spinner and Titan needing one point of damage each to kill, I couldn't finish any of them. Rest of his army cut me to pieces.

Game 2: Bye (counts as a win). The first game was lost so badly, I was put through the bottom of the ranking table...

Game 3: Orks (2-1 win). Again, lost a Warhound first. This time, however, I do pop his Supa-Stompa, though it took until turn 4 for the accursed thing to go down. First turn, I fire both Deathstrikes at it, just for one to take the 2 shields and nothing more, and the other to get itself wedged in a nearby tree... Squeaked out a win with some knife-edge assaults though.

So that's 1 titan destroyed, to 2 lost. Not so good.

Curses.

Game 4: Steel Legion (0-4 loss). Blew out both his Warhounds, but lost both of mine and even though I broke his large collection of small activations in the first turn, still got rolled by his Lemans. (This was his revenge for the last time we played (again both playing Steel Legion lists), in 2004 at the Club Challenge.)

Game 5 Vanaheim Air-cav (0-1 timed out at end of turn 3). No war engines at all on the other side of the table, and get my Warhounds destroyed by Marauder Destroyer attacks and an astoundingly vicious bit of woodland. I just about hold on for the end of turn 3, but I don't think I'd have survived turn 4. I just didn't have the tools in the list to deal with the air cav.

So, somewhere in the bottom half of the table, and 3 titans destroyed (out of 4 faced) for the loss of 6. Failed at both my missions (top half of the table and destroy every titan against me). That's the last time that list will see a tournament table (2x Warhound, 3x Shadowsword, Deathstrikes, Supreme Commander + Hydra, 2x Infantry Company + Hydra + Fire Support, 2x Thunderbolts). I'll do something a bit more balanced next time.

It was a good, well organised, very social weekend, but I had bad times on the table...

Game 4 : Biel-Tan Eldar (Losing Draw)
Game 5 : Biel-Tan Eldar (Losing Draw)

Both games were close, and could easily have gone the other way, but I'm still learning to utilse Orks to their maximum potential (Have now played 11 games with them!). I think I finished 9th.

E&C, next time I'm playing, stop by and observe.

You'll learn all the things that you shouldn't be doing with Orks...... ::)

Quite chuffed that I didn't come last! (championship score)

There was some thought that if your day 2 "bye" rounds had have been given the standard VP's for a "bye" on day 1, you might have won the whole tournament in abstentia...
