Looking forward to this, good to see so many different forces. Pretty disappointed with the number of vampires though.

Here's hoping there's gonna be a speed freak matchup;) Great diversity and really looking forward to this.

I've told our guys they have to send them to me by Saturday so that I have them ready for the Sunday. I already have Charles' and mine.

Are we declaring who is 1-5 on each of lists of who plays who next weekend? Richard is our captain and therefore will be deciding this for us.

I now have Richard's and Baz's lists. Just Chris' list left.

To be honest, still not entirely sure how we go about the first round pairings.
Are the numbers given out at random or to a 'skill level', like the top player receives the start number 1 and will get paired against his counterpart?

Think that might be the best way as it gives the clubs control over the pairings without causing issues when actually getting paired up in first round.
After round 1 we will use swiss pairing without rematches.

Thoughts? :)

Pairings could be done 'etc' style, so one team puts a player up, and then the other team puts up two, and the first team picks which of those they want to play, then it switches over, and continues till there are two left.

Either that or Random would be fine :)

I think the easiest way is that each team simply lists their players on each table 1-5 Ryder Cup style. I think that would add to the drama!!!! This will lead to mismatches first round, but using a 'swiss-style' system for games 2 and 3 will level that out later.

Richard's idea sounds tactically more interesting and fun, but will be quite a lot of organising. However, it could be done in advance to save time on the day.

Personally I would prefer each team assigning a number to their players (1-5), which is then revealed when we set up. The first game is played between the same numbered player from each team 1-1, 2-2 etc. This is not based on skill, age or bribery capacity, and gives a totally random kick-off.

I'm fine with any way of choosing the first round match ups.

Oh dear...

I like both the ETC style and the semi-random number pairing.

ETC style can easily be done during the last week before the 17th and i agree it allows for more tactical control.
On the other hand, i like the fun mayhem the semi-random pairing would give.

Tough decision...
