Black Legion, plenty of AA but a bit short on activations

Retinue + 2 oblite + Demon prince (SC)
Retinue + oblit
4 chosen, oblit + Demon prince
6 chosen + oblit + Demon prince  BTS - often a bit risky teleporting in the BTS but it sure hits hard
Death wheel
Death Wheel
Feral
Feral
Forlorn hope

Edited to remove unclear abbreviations

If that's the sort of list that's going to be on show, I'm glad I'm not attending!

Its not that bad, there are not a huge number of activations and once things are broken, BM them to death.

Still, yikes.

Have you seen Tims list?

Tournament's are were this kind of list belong. Now if your regular opponent kept showing up week after week with something like this it could get a bit annoying.

Nothing wrong with Marks list - its just depends on winning initiative so the teleport works.

Yep nothing wrong with that list ... player corners and bob's your mothers uncle ... or something like that :)

I think this shows why tournament players are key in army list development.

Seriously, lists like this are not a problem at tournies as they do have their weaknesses, I think it just goes to show how balanced the system is.

I understand, all out horror lists are all the rage on the tourney scene, but that sort of play just doesn't appeal to me. I can see the point, but I'd rather play games I know I'll enjoy.

Trust me the list does not perform as well as you may expect, or it may be my dice roll.  It has many inbuilt weaknesses but also great strengths (I am not going to list thme here its more fun to find out yourself, but I have found many of them the hard way), but whats so great with epic is that it is virtually impossible to build a totally abusive list with the tournament approved armies, personnaly I find the air assualt marines to be harder to play against (hence all the obliterators, or the IG lists with all mech and titans, each army has unique strengths and weakenesses and understanding these allows you to beat them.  I prefer the tournament game environment especially in epic, I find in the UK scene no-one pulls their punches but are a delight to play against, and there is nothing better than having a really tough against against a good guy (or gal) even when you lose. If there was one army configutaion clearly better than others I think we would see many clones of it.

I hear this a lot, and frankly I disagree. It's pretty easy to make broken lists with several of the Tournament armies. Siegemaster popcorn lists for example, or TRC's legendary 13 Thunderhawks plus a landing craft...

For me, the Black Legion war engine horde is another of the abusable catagories.

The UK tournament scene seems to have a high percentage of BL WE based lists, which have a high win record. (64% out of the 50 games I have logged in my stats system).

But again, I'm not knocking anyone who chooses to play this kind of no-holds-barred game, just explaining why it's not my thing.

I was vaguely considering swinging by for the experimental day or whatever it's called, but unfortunately I have other commitments.

I wish someone would let me into the secret of the BL 'weaknesses', I never do well against them - which is at least partly due my dice of course.

However, what the UK Championship tables does show is that there are some players who manage to do well despite using and fighting against different races and armies. So I would agree that the views of tournament players should be an important consideration when designing army lists.

While I understand that it may not be to everyone's taste, the competitive tournament game can be very tense, but it is made equally enjoyable by the friendly manner in which they are played (at least in UK circles). IMHO this is one of the reasons why they are attracting more players. For example, FSA is considerably up on last yeaar's showing.
