Even if we don't play Friday night, I'm willing to meet people somewhere if we want to hang out and socialize.

Hey guys - I am from CT and new to the boards, but very interested in attending the saturday epic tournament. I have not played any games of epic in the past decade, and played very few before that.  I would love to come on saturday and just learn how to play again.  I Will be reading some of the rule book and trying to finish painting a chaos army this week.  This site has been a great discovery for me and I am looking forward to getting back into the hobby scene after a long time away.

Hey Coach,

Awesome!  DS and I just had a game today at the Time Machine.  If you're close to Manchester we'll be trying to have some games Friday night in addition to the tourney on Saturday.  That would be a great time to learn as well. Paint as much as you'd like but don't let unpainted minis stop you from coming, DS and I have plenty of those too :).

Dave

Hey Dave - thanks for the welcome. ?I am not sure about friday night ect, ?but will make time to get over to the time machine saturday. ?May be a busy weekend for me work-wise so that must take priority- on the other hand though I can't wait to meet some people who play epic and have a interest in wargaming. I have decided that I must make some time for my hobbies and start gaming. I have always been a miniature painter mostly napoleonics and epic but only did the wargaming side off and on. ?From the posts it seems you and dwarf supreme are local, and game regularly so i am looking forward to making contact with you guys and hopefully not having my army butchered in every game. ?This seems to be a very dedicated and hard core gaming group - so i will try and get my act together this week and try and learn the rules.

Hi to Dave and Dwarf Supreme,

Moscovian and I just got back from Baltimore Gamesday, the event went very well. If you saw the pics in the other thread; we were able to do five very different table with tons of terrain to spare.

First question: Do you have a better fix on how many of us will be there on Saturday?

Second question: What and when would you like to do on Friday evening, socialize, play or both?

Third question: What are the plans for Sunday what kind of list should everyone construct?

thanks,

ep

There are 4 registered right now, and another 6 maybes still. My job this week is to start bugging people to commit finally.

Personally, I would like to play Friday night. As you guys are most likely the farthest commuters though, it's really up to you.

Sunday we were going to talk about during the breaks between games on Saturday but we can talk now if you like.  I think 8-10k per side would be pretty good but again we'll plan around you and when you guys would like to leave.

I can tell you that games that size are going to take awhile to set up and play.  We played 13,000 points to a side in a 3-way game and it took us 2 hours to set it up, 10 hours to play 2 turns, and over an hour to put it all away.  If we're doing something big it should start early.

I'll email those guys again and have them officially register.  I don't know why they didn't.  I'll remind them to email in their army lists.

I think what Dave meant for Sunday (correct me if I'm wrong, Dave), is to do one larger game with each player providing say 2k. I certainly remember the two hours(!) it took to just set up our massive game. Right now we have no idea how many people we'll have for Sunday. If that's not feasible we can simply do random 3k games.

As for Friday night, that depends on how you out-of-state attendees feel about it. I'll be bringing something to play, but I wouldn't be disappointed if all we did was socialize. I know a good watering hole in Manchester.

Hi, welcome aboard. Coach. I'm glad to see another epic gamer in CT. Please do attend Saturday and don't worry about being new to E:A. We welcome new victims, um.... I mean new players.  :D

Also, as Dave said, feel free to play with unpainted minis. From our past few Batreps you'll see that neither of us are ashamed to use unpainted minis. Dave and I meet semi-regularly at The Time Machine. Although neither of us live near Manchester, it's a good place to meet and its only about a half hour drive for me.

Ya I meant 8-10K a side, so depending on the number of people we get 2-3k armies. I'm fine starting at 9 again or with just playing some more 1 off games instead of a mega battle.  Either way.

I don't know what armies are going to be there but it would be interesting to perhaps have several tables set up length-wise Looking like this IIIII.  On one side have all Imperial type folks and allies.  On the other side there would be the bad guys.  Have each side take their turn, making their moves, even cutting across several boards, perhaps claiming an objective or perhaps being chased.  Lots ofsimultaneous movement would speed things up.  Sides could be determined before the tournament starts(preferably a day or two so you know what units to bring).  Allied players could trade 'point credits' to up their Titan/Aircraft allotment.  Space Marines could find their massive armies dropping in on turn 1 instead of turn 3.  Who knows?

If there are more players from one side than the other, up the points allowed to the minority of players to compensate.  Or make one army a Traitor list.  Or an Eldar ally.  Or whatever.  Lots of option but not much time to put it together.  The details can be worked out in time but the format would need to be done asap to get 'teams' together and emailing/calling each other.

Question:

Can you post who is registered?  I emailed Scarik (Erik McGrath) who explained that he did register and that you confirmed.

Can you tell us which armies are coming?

Yeah, probably AMTL for me, mainly because it's probably the most painted army I have, but also because I'm lazy and it's easier to play when you have fewer minis.    :p

Steve (ePilgrim) didn't register?  He is coming.  Either that or he is just driving in the car with me for three hours just to keep me company.  :p Demiurg for him.  I'll email him to remind him to turn in his list.
You assume correctly on my army list choice.  The true Eldar are coming to cull.
