The annoucnement is here! Yes, seeing as there is renewed interest in an event the weekend after Britcon, Bristol Summer Sizzler will now be running the 18th and 19th of August 2012 with all the goodness still to come.

My apologies for the length of time it's taken to finalise these dates.

Exciting news folks: The Imperial Tickets are now sold out! Be quick to get a chance to play on the Chaos side: especially those who have expressed an interest in having this event moved: as there's only 4 places left!

The rulespack is now beggining to take shape and has been somewhat influenced by the recent Flames of War 'Bridge Too Far' campaign.

We've designed a simple system that sees a 'battlefront' moving back and forth across the continent whereby the aim is to attack and hold key locations, cut off areas of supply to the enemy and position key 'special' troops where players think they'll be required most. As each side gains footholds specific advantages and disadvantages will be gained as the campaign draws towards it's mammoth ending!

We'll be asking players to bring standard 3000pt* lists that will have the oppurtunity to be backed up by Titan Legions, the Grey Knights, PDF Forces, Cutlists, Daemons and Dark Mechanicus units as the campaign progresses, additionally as those stuck behind enemy lines falter you will see the effectiveness of their fighting forces drop the longer they stay out of supply.

One thing we'd like to ask what players are most interested to see happen at the end of the campaign: would people prefer 1 big mega battle dictated by which team is ahead in the campaign's goals or does the idea of two smaller 'mega' battles as both sides make final pushes to oust/destroy their opponents for once and for all? Essentially: would your prefer 1x7v7 game or 1x4v4 + 1x3v3 games to round the weekend off?

*It's a hell of a lot easier this way; we decided that forces that grow/dwindle depending on resources and casulties would only result in immense amounts of micro-management between games.

Fair point on 3k army size- we don't want to spend the weekend bookkeeping!

Sounds like a good weekend is shaping up. Looking forward to taking part.

I think my vote will go towards one 7v7 game at the end.

Ryan- would it be stretching it for each player to have standard 4000pt lists?

The reason being is that from looking over EUK tournie stats, in standard tournament 3k lists we rarely see the bigger stuff like Warlords and Great Gargants. As this is a more relaxed campaign weekend it would be great if we could see more of the big boys on table, without the same pressure to maximise activation count that you would see in tournament.

Thanks

James

I think so yes: we've had to bear in mind time etc into the mix and they way the campaign will work already includes some add on's (up to 1000pts worth!) being added to particular forces as the invasion progresses: so a 3k army might find itself joined by a Custodian Warlord Titan for example, of a cultist coven supported by a Lord of Battles :-)

1x 7v7 mega game gets my vote, as I still remember how awesome the 3rd war for armaggeon mega battle a couple of years back was ^^

I really enjoyed the last mega battle I was a part of, but also greatly enjoy having parallel games happening - especially if events in one game can affect the other.
I'd be happy with either option, though if forced to vote it'd probably be the 7v7.

Really wish I could make it down to this one, as I enjoyed the Winter Warmer so much, but I think I'm indiposed. :(

Regarding the big mission, I don't suppose there'd be any interest in using/playtesting the Large Tournament Scenario?

Only 2 places left on the chaos side and then we're full!

Apologist; yeah, I've been keeping an eye on that thread and am interested...just not got a computer at the moment so I'll be in touch soon :)

I don't play Epic any more, but could I come along and relive my youth by watching and pointing at things and saying stuff like:

"OMG I had some of those"
and
"What is that, they never used to look like that when I played!!?"

I'm sure MoK will be along shortly to reply officially - but I'd imagine his response will be along the lines of "of course, more than welcome".

The more important question though is; why don't you play Epic anymore?!?!

I sold my IG army back in the day and stayed away from wargames due to 'life' and have only recently got back into gaming and that was 6 years ago when I started Angel Barracks.
Back then I was into historical so played Napoleonics.
It is only of late that I have re-discovered my love of the 6mm sci-fi and that was through FUBAR which is small scale skirmishes, something which given the time demands on my day is about all I get to play.
