Speaking of ACTA I just bought Age of Dreadnoughts this week to go with my already painted WWI Brits and Germans. Of course we don't have to look at it as WWI, it could just as easily be Wet Navy Battles on a Low Tech Level Planet lol ;)

It would nt take much to persuade me to get into WW1 Naval Combat. I have always loved the German fleet.

Hey Guys

I will pop round.

Frenchie, if required I do have 2 4x3 boards and some terrain which I can bring round if you have something to place these boards on for another gaming table.

Cheers

Thanks Frenchie for hosting game and for spread. Really loved the hex board- looks amazing.

If you need more buildings/trees, or even just to have a variety of scenary, I can bring some bits along next time.

Great to meet everyone and to put face to name. I would be happy to do Charles's suggestion of 2*2000 points the next time we play multi-player- it will emphasize maneuvering more.

Am working on my Orks this month but IG Armoured Company should nt take too long to finish off afterwards. So I will soon be able to bring either of them or AMTL. Between us we definitely have a good spread of armies so should be quite easy to come up with various allies.

Should be able to make most Saturdays- it seems to be a perfect day for all of us to game which is great. Let us know if arrange a game in 2-3 weeks time.

Thanks again

James

Steve

Thanks for the offer- think I would struggle for next week to be honest. I think I need a few more warm up games to refresh my understanding of rules and learn basics of my new army before I would feel ready for tournaments. I also need to learn to play quicker.

Cheers

James

@James: I can't believe that one wood did more damage to your Stompa mobs than the whole of AH's Marines! That made me chuckle.

Thanks guys for a great afternoon. A quick game and plenty of chewing the cud. I think that we might try a swop the army game next time so that people can experiment with builds that they haven't thought of before or else I could just play Russ >:D to make Frenchie's day ;)

What worries me is what goes around usually comes around. I was quite lucky at several key points and AH had extremely bad luck.

The first combat with T-Hawk riding Devastators, the 2nd combat with T-Hawk riding Assault marines which resulted in T-Hawk being taken out by a lucky critical, 3 separate failed activation rolls on a 2+ with SC re-roll, especially with combined action of Termies vs my Great Gargant. In contrast my Blitz Brigade taking out Warhound's remaining shield before getting a lucky critical, plus several good rolls in close combat.

I will definitely be trying different army build next time as I should have got more stuff painted by next time we meet. Have almost finished some more Warbikes so I suspect my army will be red!

Cheers

James

Just for you Frenchie, the last stats for Harlequins that were playtested back in 2004

Harlequins
Type Speed Armour Close Combat Firefight
Infantry 15cm 5+ 4+ 4+
Weapon Range Firepower
Harlequin Ranged Weapons (15cm) Small Arms, First Strike, Extra Attacks (+1)
Harlequin Assault Weapons (base contact) Assault Weapon, Macro-weapon,Extra Attacks (+1)
Notes: Invulnerable Save.

A single troupe could be taken with 0-10 stands at 35pts each. All additional characters had been grouped into the stats by this time. Teleport had gone, but they could garrison however I used webway portals to get mine on the table.

On the House Rules list you are picking only one formation, the Solitare is an additional unit & not a separate formation

Are the Harlequin stats in the Swordwind rulebook (intended to be used interchangably with Aspect Warriros for the same cost) no good?

Two quick questions for future gaming sessions:

1) Are we going to be using Net EA or EUK army lists?
Would nt have affected the army I took on saturday but think it would help if we are consistent going forward between the half dozen of us.

2) What is the group's attitude to developments lists to playtest them? There are a couple of lists that I would nt mind playtesting after we have got a couple more games under our belts. Or would you prefer to stick to approved lists?

Thanks

James

When I move to York (or maybe Harrogate), I'd hope that people would be interested in helping playtest lists... I've got a supplement to finish. :-)
