With the weekend fast receding from my memory I’ll try and post some sort of report about my games.
I took a high activation Speed Freak army and started off playing Darren and his Black Legion. The scenario changed BTS to wipe out half the enemy formations which was supposed to allow us to be more adventurous with our most expensive formations. This was a help for me as my SF usually have to push forward with the BTS. Darren plotted his barrage and drop and then we set up to clash forces. The game started off well for me as Darren had plotted his spacecraft to barrage outside of the deployment zone and I then failed to move anything into his plot. We exchanged a couple of formations and built up to a large engagement on the right flank where I was able to call intermingled an enlarged retinue, Feral titan and Decimator which effectively won me the game. A good solid win to start things off.
My second game was against Alan and we have had some fun games in the past. Again it was a different scenario to the standard GT game, Pincer. This had one force setting up across the centre with the opposing side able to set up on either of the two short edges. Alan chose the centre and was playing with a Reaver and two formations of Terminators which he attempted to confused me by garrisoning with them. I had read the scenario a couple of times and decided that I didn’t know what I was doing and so just set up all my forces on one end, saved having to go back and forth to deal with stuff at the other end. My tactic in this game was to steam roller forward and attempt to finish off the enemy as quickly as possible. The game went well with the terminators deciding that they didn’t really want any armour and the reaver shooting up anything that it could see. I basically shot up the sides of the table and by passed the reaver as much as possible. Another solid win to the orks.
In a fit of brilliance the final game of the day was a standard GT scenario which was a relief. Unfortunately due to my success I was pitted against Joe, current leader of the EpicUK Championship and all round great guy. Thankfully Joe had decided to take Dark Angels which meant that I wasn’t facing any Warhounds or Thunderbolts. Regulation win for the orks.
Sunday started with a reversed objective scenario against Chris S. and his amazing Vanaheim army. I’d been looking forward to playing this list since Chris first started bringing them and they were as frightening for my SF as anything that I’ve faced before. Marauders with combined 10 shots, air cavalry formations with barrage and then 22 shots. The first turn was scary as I took piles of units off and only killed 6 sentinels, 1 lightning fighter and a vulture, I think. Second turn though my forces had closed and although I couldn’t get the simmers into BtB contact I could catch the infantry. BTS was cut down to the Commissar, Vultures wiped out and the sentinel screen broken or destroyed. I also got lucky that I caught the Marauders with two shots which they failed. In the end I had the activation advantage in the final turn to clinch the win. A long and very enjoyable game which was almost the perfect match up.
Final game of the tournament was again a different scenario with four set objectives and BTS each being worth a goal. Rug was my opponent for this and proceeded to sacrifice 2 formations of Assault Marines and a Thunderhawk in an initial engagement against one of my big warbands. I then went after his whirlwinds, which with a CAP, accurate shooting from the single hunter on the table and a sneaky landing of the second Thunderhawk resulted in my loosing 8 out of 10 Fighta-Bommers. Three waves shot to smithereens. The two remaining FBs got their revenge by breaking the Hawk in the final turn which was then destroyed by being within 15cm of one of my formations contesting an objective. Rug’s Warhounds tried to stem the flow of the orks and managed to break some formations but were then caught by a mob and my bike filled Landa. I pushed for a bigger win, but just couldn’t get to his BTS to clear an objective leaving the orks with a tight 2-1 win.
So five very good matches with 5 wins for my Freaks left me at the top of the table and my boyz able to drive off into the sunset with another trophy. Thanks again to all my opponents and to Chris for organizing the event.

Yep, that's my list Meph.
Basically I had 6 Skorchas & 2 Buggies in each Big Warband, 2 Skorchas & 2 Buggies in each normal Warband, 7 Skorchas and 1 Buggie in each of the KoS, 4 Flakwagons in one BB and 2 Flak & 2 Gunwagons in the other.
My max range shooting was 45cm from the 2 Gunwagons and everything else was range 30cm or less. However my game plan was based on engaging and the only shooting that I expected to have a chance of hitting was the Skorchas and Fighta-Bommers.
