I've played an extra game so that is slightly distorting my lead!

I've just ordered a chess clock with the intention of speeding up my own play - so I'll be giving all future opponents the option of a timed game. Not sure how it should work, maybe 1.5 hours per player with a 3-0 result against you if you run out of time?

I wouldn't want to be as harsh as saying 3-0 as some folk in the league play a lot more than others so are faster. But very happy to trial playing with a clock.

Love the chess clock and will be more then happy to use it in games to help practising a faster pace.
How much was it and where from?

Though i would continue to time games based on the usual tournament length of 2.5h total.
Makes the most sense imho.

Well in theory the game (with any armies) can be played in 2.5 hours - I don't think I've seen it happen myself - but with the clock ticking presumably the game will naturally play a lot faster. I'm not insisting on using, just proposing to give people the option.

While we are waiting we can use a chess clock app on my iPad or smartphones.
Found a really nicely designed one in Apples app store. Chess Clock by Chess.com. No fancy functions, just two big buttons :)
If Alan is cool with it then we can test it on our slugfest this Thursday.

I just downloaded the same - looks good - I guess you just need to turn off the phone's screensaver mode

So what are you going to do?
1hrs 15 each, starting at the strategy roll for turn 1, and if someone's time runs out?

I'd say just try to keep to the time rather than have any rule about losing of you run out of time. Especially as, you know, we do occasionally chat to each other during games!

Yeah, it is more a reminder then an enforcer tool. It will allow to judge your own time management.
I'd approach it with 1h 15min per player. It should really include deployment as well, if i am not mistaken.
