At the moment next years calendar is

JAN
FEB - early Full Scale Assault 1 Day Gas Club Mansfield
MAR - early Into The Breech 2 Day probably NWGC Stockport
APR
MAY - late Open WAr 1 Day WHW Nottingham
JUN - BOTC 2 Day Venue TBC
JUL
AUG - 12th-13th-14th Britcon 3 Day Manchester
SEP - 24th-25th Stockport Stockade 2 Day NWGC Stockport
OCT - mid Open War 1 Day WHW Nottingham
NOV - late EPIC UK GT 2 day Maelstrom Mansfield

Its my understanding that MoK won't be doing Bristol this year but Mephiston is pondering an event in Milton Keynes area.
The proximity of SS+ITB this year I think has reduced numbers for both which should be taken into account for next year.
The most obvious gaps are -
January
April - 7ish week gap between ITB+OW
July
August - to cater for those who can't attend a 3 day event in Britcon

SO there are gaps for 2 London events, a Guilford one and MK

I personally would be against the 2 army lists and you choose the one you want by opposition idea - at the moment you generally have to pick a mixed force to account for a variety of opponents, with this you could- and people will, max out your army for different oppnents.

What it doesn't appeal to have some sort of guessing game where you know its eldar next, but which of the two builds will they go for? And so on.

I think the "two builds" thing is only really nessesary for GW Core Game tournaments, where the game systems are inherently awfully balanced. So in those games giving people a chance to pick a list more suited to the opponent is good. For Epic, it'd just encourage listhammer.

If there's anything I can do to help, I'll lend a hand to get another Londonish event running.

Your help would be much appreciated.
Probably me, you, Chris and Gavin should get together at some point to discuss it. Especially with regard to date and format.

I could do the talking stuff, sit out of the tournament itself if numbers are odd, and truck stuff in my car...

Well Walton would be great for me personally as I'm just down the road.
On the other hand the Cock is in a really great position for people in and around London and those commuting from the far flung provinces (and is basically free!)

We could do one or another or both! (in addition to Gavin's london event)

What sort of take up would you be expecting for a 'Surrey' gig? Do you see it panning out mainly as a local affair (as Stockport Stockade appears to be) or would you be aiming higher as a more of a national event?

As long as you cover your costs and get 8 entrants what's to stop you?

Sorry I havn't posted much recently - Just returned from a fabulous holiday in the Med. Between us I am sure that TRC, Alansa, E&C and I can come up with something. Walton and MK are both reasonable locations for those with cars, or who are prepared to take several trains to get to them. As Alansa said, the Cock is very central reducing travel times and costs, reasonably sized and already has the tables needed (which is why I have used it for the past few years).

As to dates, April, July or both are possible. 1 day / 3 game events seem to be the preferred length to avoid the need for staying overnight. In the past a second 'gaming day' has been presented with usually a much reduced attendance. I have tried various themes, the main problem being to find a formula that appeals to everyone. I must say I really enjoyed the 'Bristol warmer' in January which used the 'Total War' scenarios, and my personal preference would be to do that, though I am open to other suggestions.
