Two full attendances in a row means Swedes should have first opportunity to get an appropriate bid together. A hired van and a ferry would make Tallinn or Riga viable locations if people wanted a cheap weekend.

After Sweden it would be Norway or France.

Why would Swedish people arrange anything in Estonia or Lathvia?? Thats a really, really weird suggestion. You think it's easier for us to go to another country and do all the work thats demanded to run an tournament (get s place, transport terrain, find accomodation, set up deals with restaurants etc)??

I agree that Sweden is up. And we will arrange it in Sweden of course. We can have a EEC in the Baltic states when we have local playing groups there.

I anticipate that the Krona will rise against the Euro. The Eurozone will be doing significant quantative easing in the next year which is bad luck for Sweden as Euros won't buy many Krona. However, I can totally understand why the Swedes would not want to incur the hassle of organising in another Country. The potential exchange rate issue is unfortunate as Sweden would have been the obvious choice.

I'm certain that if the Swedes present a credible bid, they'll be awarded the job in Birmingham.

Remember that this is all volunteer work - if anybody wants to do the work we'll all be very happy and grateful! Stuff like low price countries and Connected airports are luxuries, not necessities.

I think I may be to blame here for shooting down Gothcon. The thing is, Gothcon is so excellent for me personally that I felt obliged to point out that it may not be the best venue in Sweden for other People :P

Bad Ulrik! Bad! Gothcon is an excellent venue in a cosy hipsteresque industrial city. Well. Not that this grimdark industry would be obvious in any way. But the name has Goth in it. That has to count?

The Germans and British, big players in both points and attendance have both gotten a "cheap" year when the tournament was held locally. So, why should Sweden be penalised by not being allowed to host the tournament domestically? We're not necessarily more expensive than France (looking at you Paris) or Norway (rofl). I agree with mordoten, if we host it, we do it at home. If people don't want to travel to Sweden I'm fine with that and will try to make it elsewhere if I continue to make the team. Edit: I just won't travel to host.

A bit late to the party :P

I'd be more than happy to help organize next years event. But gothcon is a no go för me. It is allways held över easter. I have a feeling that Will be a problem for many other swedes as well. it's a typical family holiday/minivacation season with people going skiing and other trips.

However being part of the east sweden sceen I'm confident we could arrange a tournament. We will need to discuss this more elswere of course and get back to you guys in this thread.

As a passive bystander, I guess you are quite correct in thinking that the east has the most active groups. And yes. With age, easter is becoming a social obstacle for me to, even though I live in the city...

Hi everyone! New to Epic since this years GothCon hence new to this forum. First post.
I happened to be the main organizer of BSK last year and I am also involved in this years convention. Just wanted to chime in that BSK & Borås would be happy to help out with space and tables for the EC2016. It's a friendly, small (400 peeps total 2014), convention with biggest focus on Warmachine/Hordes, WFB and MTG. We actually run the Warmaster Swedish Open and had a few international visitors last year. So if Borås is an option we are happy to help.

Just me being curious: How many tables are usually needed? You wouldnt have to host the EC at the same date as our con...
- Depending on size of event we might be able to help with a good, central location with a café.
- Food can be pre-ordered for attendants.
- Rent would be free.
- For those on a budget our gaming club would be open for BYO accomodation with available shower. 10min walk from above mentioned location.

Cheers!

I gather that Gothcon is less preferred due to the timing and will thus not push it.

Borka, I'd be happy to bring your proposal to Birmingham if you can sort the details out in time.

Welcome Mlkr! I've already proposed BSK and Borås as one of the options in the west without approaching you guys. Happy to see that you're interested and the Viking team will throw it into consideration (together with the eastern options) before we put forth our suggestion(s) at EEC 2015. What we seem to have is an optimisation between low lodging and dining cost (Borås) versus more convenient travel connections/cost (Stockholm). I'm certain our potential esteemed international guests will want to weigh in. After all, the most popular Swedish proposal has a greater chance of being picked over other options abroad.
