I will definitely push for a Swedish team. Personally I'm not that picky with the system as long as I get to play plenty of foreigners. Swedes I can play almost any time. ;)

Edit: Though I really enjoyed the rule that prevented players on the same team from using the same races.

It's a good goal to play as many nations as possible. But I think it's worth a small concession to ensure that the top two teams have played each other during the tournament - I think no one is happy if one of them is crowned "champion of Europe" without having faced their strongest rivals!

My suggestion would be to change the structure depending on the number of teams. I'm going to assume 5 rounds for all of this, as I think that's a good number for a two-day tournament.

4 teams (or less): Each team will have faced every other team on day 1. An excellent opportunity to have day 2 be playoffs. Locked schedule (like the Berlin EEC) of course also works.

5-6 teams: Locked schedule is the best option.

7+ teams: It's impossible for each team to face every other team (unless you go for partial matchups, your team faces half of team #6 and half of team #7), so I'd say some sort of playoff or swiss structure is the best option.

I think an individual from, say, Liechtenstein or Andorra should be able to attend on their own under their own flag.

Personally the team element interests me - there are plenty of epic tournaments offering the chance of personal glory (at least in the UK :-p ) but only one so far giving the team aspect. In many ways, I hope the UK event stays as relaxed schedule wise as it sound like Berlin was : plenty of time to socialise between games.

I think the whole EEC idea gives the concept and spirit of NetEA (and by proxy, taccoms) a focus and celebration - a chance to put RL people to avatars and enjoy that a bunch of blokes (and hopefully some girls) from all over can come to one place to geek it up for a couple of days! Bumbear should be raised on a pedestal for the audacity not just to think it but actually make it happen in such short time ! I hope there is enough space available so I can join in in some way, either in a supporting event or bringing up the rear ! Roll on 2015! :-)

If the magic six teams are involved, why not pre-arrange the team matchups, but order the players in order of results so the top swede plays the top german then 2nd plays the 2nd....etc?

I'm afraid it would be hard to rank Swedish players as they may never have met in a tournament. (Which could of course be a good reason to arrange one, but then you need to get people to travel twice). For example, I think Borka is the only one I've crossed swords with tournamentwise in my team before. I've attended the same tournament as Elrik, but don't recall playing him.

Yes but you do it during the tourney. So top scoring players from round one on each team play each other in round two etc.

Yeah this is what I meant, so first matchups are random, but then winners play winners etc etc...

i'll put my faith in the epic uk team to come up with a system to fit due to there vast tournament organizing experience.

for me the question is lists would they be from the epic uk tournament approved or NetEA

Think they already said they'd be EUK lists.

I am sure we'll get a good system, with a nod to some of the concepts that are appealing to people here. In the end they need to make a call and of course it can't do everything at once.

As others have said, I am up for this, providing I meet lots of foreigners :)

So far people are looking for
  • playing people of nationalities other than their own
  • Matching the strongest players against each other (some form of 'swiss' system)
  • players from each country fielding different armies

All of this seems doable, especially if there are 8 teams (of 4) or perhaps 10 teams (of 3). After 6 teams (where each team plays every other team), playing the Swiss system and within this, matching the players up according to their scores seems eminently possible

Just want to note that, for me, it's important that the strongest teams face each other. Individual rankings aren't very important (to me).
