A Message from The British Historical Gaming Society:
We are pleased to confirm that there will now be onsite catering available at this years BHGS Challenge, with the Wheatley Campus Coffee Shop "Eights Coffee Lounge" featuring proper Starbucks bean-to-cup coffee now being open for drinks and snacks throughout the two days of the competition.
Opening hours will be between 8.30 am to 6.30 pm Saturday, and 8.30 am to 2.30pm Sunday.
We hope this new initiative will be warmly welcomed, both by those wargamers who like a decent double shot mocha full-fat soya latte with a dash of caramel syrup and a blueberry muffin on the side ("it counts as one of your five-a-day dontcha know?") before unleashing their first salvo of the day, and also by those who enjoy whingeing about how in the old days at competitions they used to share one Tetleys Tea bag, a broken styrofoam cup and a flask of lukewarm water between 200 wargamers over the course of the weekend and everyone was still grateful, and how "these young wargamers today really don't know that they are born, do they.....".
To get the cafe opened we have however had to commit to a minimum spend each day, which if it is not reached will mean that the BHGS end up incurring additional charges - so please do take advantage of the facilities if you have the opportunity, as it helps make sure we can aford to continue to keep onsite catering open in future years.
I think a consolation Hot chocolate with whipped cream will soothe any game lost myself
