I'm actually physically poking one of them right now.

That'd be awesome! At least the lunch won't crush you.

Confirmed entry for Steve Gullick, Dave Thomas, Mark Roberts and Si Jenkins as of yesterday. Thanks chaps.

I'll be there - going to attempt a 1 day turnaround by car! Not perhaps the most sensible thing to do, but hopefully early saturday morning the roads will be quiet!

Brave lad !

FWIW, when I travel up to Britcon from west london I use the M40 / M6. It has never been less than 4.5 hours, usually due to heavy traffic on the M6 north of Birmingham (this time it was closer to 6 hours).

In your case I rekon you have a minimum 5 hour road trip each way on top of the tournament - and that is assuming good traffic - or a minimum of 19 hours
. . . . . :geek . . . . .

(I suggest taking a sleeping bag etc just in case :) )

I'd considered that, but you just can't get out of London early enough to get to Manchester for a 9:30 start - not to mention that even if you can get out of Euston on time, you've still got the issue of getting the 15 or so miles through london before the trains and underground start running, and i'm kinda out in the sticks these days...

I'm anticipating around 3.5 - 4 hours to get there given i'll be setting off at 5am from South London, based on similar journeys to Mansfield taking around 2.5 hours on average.

I've done the trip a couple of times - albeit in the opposite direction. I prefer the train as it's so much speedier - except the one time I had to pay £15 parking at Stockport. I keep parking cash in the car - but not £15! The machine didn't accept notes or cards and so I was scrabbling madly for £15 in coins with my 6am train leaving in minutes. Awful morning.
