Cost is free.  We're hoping to draw some players out of the woodwork.  In fact, DS and I met three guys that used to play Saturday when we were gaming.  We'll be keeping in touch with them for the gaming and hopefully they be at the tournement.

Next I think we need to have a discussion on the rules and armies allowed.  I would like to use the updated handbook (when it's posted), and to that I would add the Raiders armies, as well as AMTL, Demiurg and Tyranids.

As I see this being more as a friendly "let's get together and play some Epic" tournement rather than a competition, I think we should be as flexible as possible so the greatest amount of people can play.

Here's a link to Time Machine, where the tourney will be held:

Time Machine

It lists the address. There is a link for directions. Parking won't be an issue, because the owner mentioned that there is plenty behind the building. For anyone considering long distance travel to participate, there are a few motels within 5-15 minutes. I'll check into the costs for them. For food, there are several fast food restaurants within 5-10 minutes.

Will there be anything pre- or post- tourney?  I doubt too many people are going to stick around for two days but even if there are a few of us it might be fun.  I was thinking about coming up Friday night or leaving on Sunday, depending on the start time.  If anyone is up for it, maybe some type of scenario game or a big bash of allied play (2vs2, 3vs3) or just a giant game where I might be able to field a lot of units.  Nothing like the 51,000 point game DS and I played last year but something 'biggish' like that is always fun to see.

I think I would have to come up Friday and leave Sunday, if the trip comes off, so something else to do would not be bad.

I hadn't planned on it, but if there are enough people interested, I'm pretty sure I'd available and possibly Friday evening, also. I live only only about 40 minutes from Time Machine. We would have to check with owner about Friday night. Sunday wouldn't be a problem, because that's when Dave and I usually meet. It might be nice to do something different for Sunday.

I will certainly investigate the chance of me attending this, as long as people are around for more than one day.

I'll also have to know what the lodging is like as it's gonna be a long drive to get there!  *laugh*

If it means taking time out of my day to play Epic with all you guys making the long haul, that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make :-P.  Friday night and Sunday are both fine with me.

Chroma, here's a few motels right in the area:

I want to thank Dave and DwarfSupreme for welcoming me on to this board and taking the time to explain a bit about Epic and humor me while I continued to talk about 40k like it mattered (lol).   :p

I really enjoy meeting them, great guys, and Epic looked like every bit as much fun as I hoped it would be.

Time Machine is awesome.  Definitely worth the drive for me.

I'm definitely onboard for the tournament as well, although I'll only have played a few games by the time the tournament comes around.  So if we get enough people, I'll be happy to take a backseat and do some of the facilitating (fielding calls from folks, explaining to the random folks who are sure to be interested in the game, heck maybe doing a small demo game if some one asks and there is a spare table but definitely playing it by ear).

I'm still attempting to determine what army I want to play, although I've pretty much given up on the Tyranid army, as the basic troops are insanely expensive, even if the special units are more affordable (except the Harridan, of course).

TraditionCT, wlecome to the boards and to the Epic scene.  At the last tournament we had up there, two of eight participants were green and still had a good time.  If we get some pre-game time in (Friday night?) then it will be a good warmup for all parties concerned.  The only thing that can draw ridicule is leaving early because you don't want your wife to be angry.  Anyone who does that gets the whipping chair award.

Hey, DS, who got that award last year? :p

Bring it on!  We shall settle this matter on the board, machine-god worshipping mon-keigh.

I think we'll be able to get 5/6 full tables up and running.  There's also 2-3 4x4s against the wall that we can use as well.  We might start to get strapped for terrain though, but if people bring their own we'll be set.

That being said, I think there'll be plenty of space for the new and experienced players.  You can't get out of starting an army that easy...

Thanks for the reminder, Dave. I meant to mention this earlier. Time Machine does have quite a bit of terrain, but there is probably only enough for four games as the most. Mosc, I know you have some good terrain. If you bring at least some of it, it would be greatly appreciated.

As for the armies allowed, does anyone feel that a certain army should be excluded? Dave and I agree that we want to encourage as many players as possible.

Since this is supposed to be a 'for fun' tourney, why not have an open door policy; are you having people submit their lists before the event?

If so, then perhaps they can be moderated a bit if things appear out of hand, but I think "anything goes" would get the most people out, and might even let people play against things they've never faced before!

And surely *someone* has the models to field E&C All Grot army...  :D
