Just the lists need adding in, but I sub-contracted that bit today ;)

All lists now added to the DB!

Cheers

@Reedar/MephistonAG
I actually have a club, the "3TH - TableTopTreff Hannover" Is it possible to change the "Team" to that?

As with everyone else, i'd like to offer a big thanks to Tim for all the hard work he put in making the tables and scenery, organizing some great prize support, and of course doing such a good job actually running the event :) Everything went pretty smoothly, even with a dropout, and lunch wasn't too bad either!

So, as to the actual games:

First game i was on the lava table against Florian and his DKoK. Not an ideal table for the Eldar given the lack of LoS blocking terrain other than in the centre of the board. Still, this was less of an issue than Florian's stubborn refusal to fail an armour save. Any armour save. Be it a 4++ or a 5+. I think he failed a grand total of 3 during the entire game, which left most of the heavy lifting down to 'Fumbles' (My warlock titan) - who at least didn't have any woods to trip on. He did however almost lose an assault against a warhound, after more crazy dice from Florian, and pretty terrible ones from me. We had to call it at the end of turn 3, and thanks to Fumble's TK attacks i'd managed to take out one of the three big infantry units, along with both shadowswords, and despite losing a fair bit of stuff, there was enough left to give me a winning draw.

Game 2 i was up against Ronan's Guard, this time on the Ice table. He was using a pretty similar list to my standard guard list, so unfortunately for him i knew exactly how to take it apart. One small slip by him on turn 1 saw him get his Tank Co much too far forward, and i was able to double Fumbles forward and then engage them out of the webway with my Warp Spiders, taking him down to just the command tank. The second turn saw some falcons gut the SC mech infantry unit (which were mounted) with crossfire, and despite failing my rolling assault, the second mech infantry and both warhounds weren't long for the world either. Ronan did however manage to break and then destroy my Aspect unit, so it wasn't at least totally one sided. After this, despite Fumbles breaking and failing to rally, it was just a matter of breaking the few small activations left and taking all the objectives for a 4-0 in turn 3.

Game 3 was against Alan with his AMTL on the 'Forgeworld' Table, with his AMTL being pure shooting variants, including a very interesting 'missile reaver'. Turn 1 saw Alan play very cautiously, only advancing forward and trying to keep his titans together. I stripped shields from a Reaver and laid down some blast markers on one flank, and on the other damaged a warhound from the pair, and then assaulted them with the Warp Spiders, killing one and breaking the other, which then didn't rally. I then got inititative turn 2, and stripped the warlord's shields, did a wound or two with Fumbles, and then engaged it with my mounted guardians. Alan's armour saves didn't go well at all, and the Warlord limped off with 1 wound remaining, and then got finished off by a Void Spinner. This was pretty much the beginning of the end, with another reaver soon broken. Turn 3 saw the Warp Spiders (and my supreme commander) killed, and the guardians broken, and Fumbles failing his activation roll and breaking himself. However, i then crossfired a reaver to death with the falcons, and then killed the now rallied warhound with my Avatar, leaving a sole damaged Reaver remaining, and a full 5-0 victory to the eldar in turn 3.

Apologies to Ronan and Alan for some very quick games - i think we were done with game 3 in about 40 mins, so there was a fair amount of sitting around waiting for everyone else to finish :S Still, it was interesting being on the receiving end of the Titans for once!

Thank you all for your kind comments and thank you to everyone who took part, helped on the day and of course the awesome prize sponsors: Hawk Wargames, Onslaught Miniatures, Dark Realm miniatures and Microworld Games. Not forgetting Mr Steve54's fantastic Thousand Son's miniatures too!

Loads of improvements to be made next year or course (me being a bit more 'streetwise' re the scoring is the major one (sorry Mephiston and Reedar for picking up the piecemeal/scraps of information available). Proud it worked out in the end though, warts n'all.

Winners of the Onslaught Miniatures vouchers: RichardL, Largo_W and Reedar. Remember these vouchers have codes on, so you can enter these directly into the webstore. Enjoy! You have a year to use them, but don't leave it too late or you may end up a bit 'peeved' :'(

Winners of the Microworld Games vouchers: Largo_W and Mr Gonzo, I've sent you both an email with the info. Will wait to hear back from you

Oops, meant to say (last Saturday night)...Richard L, it was me who accidentally picked up your Samsung phone and put it on 'my desk'. Sorry mate, thought it was mine, realized it wasn't then forgot to give it back. We're not 'shifty wheeler crooks' down here in Ooh arr Devon I promise... :-[ I'd say more 'Santa Claus' (as in giving away a ridiculous amount of prizes). :)

I will now go on a period of 'Radio Silence' , i.e gaming sabbatical and well earned break from gaming/planning/scenery making for a few months. Mr's Brokenbayonet has given me a very very long list of DIY jobs to slave over (with great glee I may add) in response no doubt to me taking over the house and garden to make the boards for the past four months......Noooo!

P.s I'll drop in from time to time (to post up my Feral Orky painting stuff etc)

P.p.s. Reedar, few months down the road gives us more to plan my proposed Bristol vs Exeter Derby idea..(i.e similar to a five/six a side football two legged fun event. First leg in Bristol or Exeter as the 'Home' game. No prizes but loosing team buys beers/meals for the winners. Second leg would have the previous 'Home' team travel down to then play as the 'Away' team and so forth. Winning team gets beers/ meals bought as before... Overall winning team decided after both legs. Blagging rights and all that :0)

P.p.p.s...Ticket site updated to include gallery of photos of the 2014 event link here:
http://www.exeter-entrench.co.uk/

Photos in the gallery are from a combined pool from Reeda and myself (cheers Reedar). IN addition the great news that EE2015 will be happening, am very very happy to confirm that Hawk Wargames and Dark Realm Miniatures have confirmed they'll be sponsoring the tournament again next year! AWESOME! ;D

Anyway, back to this tournament...Thanks all for making this such an awesome day! Exeter Enternchment will return next year! ;D
Tim C/BB

now that is a fantastic idea!! hope it works out, I'd love some kind of team event like that!! maybe we could do a Notts vs Yorkshire version? (although with Steve54, Dptdexys, Tiny-Tim and E&C in yorkshire, I may regret that suggestion...)

Having seen some of BBs steam Gargant handiwork in person, I can confirm that they match the (now expected) levels of awesomeness...

Well I promised a more full write up so here goes... Though what more to say !?

As everyone has said before me, brilliantly organised, great tables, exciting concept (dense terrain with trenchworks on each table) good food, tough but friendly competition and brilliant people ! BB is a perfectionist and beats himself up over a few small hiccups, but 99% was a cracking success. I must say, compared to my only other epic tourney experience (Bristol Winter Warmer 2014) I could only split them on the venue : Exeter had a bar on site ! :D (oh and some daylight ! )

My list :

"Revenants With Wings"
Biel-Tan Craftworld (Epic-UK v121013) 3000 POINTS
==================================================

AVATAR [0]

GUARDIAN WARHOST [150] Farseer, 4 Guardians, 3 Heavy Weapon Platform

GUARDIAN WARHOST (MOUNTED) [350] Farseer, 4 Wave Serpents, 7 Guardians

ASPECT WARRIOR WARHOST [600]
4 Dire Avenger, 4 Wave Serpent, Dark Reaper, 3 Fire Dragon, Autarch, Exarch

FALCON TROUPE [275] 3 Falcon, 2 Fire Storm, Spirit Stones

VOID SPINNER [275]

WINDRIDER TROUPE [200] 5 Jetbike, Vyper

RANGER TROUPE [100] 4 Ranger
RANGER TROUPE [100] 4 Ranger

REVENANT TITANS [650] 2 Revenant Titans

NIGHTWINGS [300] 3 Nightwing Interceptors

As for the games :

My memory is hazy as it was a long day, but this is my best account form an unashamedly one-sided point of view ! :-)

1. Largo/Chris - Tyranids.

Never faced and barely seen this list before so we lagged a bit, probably because i was trying to work out how to kill that many bugs ! All went well on my left flank. My new additions, the Revenants, pulled a typical Eldar dirty trick jumping in, offloading two successive rounds of MW fire to kill the Dominatrix and then slinking off behind a big hill in the centre without even scratching their paintwork. My hard hitting assault units followed up, tag teaming off some genestealers, a small swarm and then finally some jet bikes one-shoting a Harridan (!!!) to secure on objective and make a dash for the Blits.

Unfortunately the right flank was a different story. Facing the main 'nid thrust my 2 units of guardians and rangers readied themselves to sell their lives dearly to defend just enough to scrape the win. Unfortunately, seeing so many bodies heading through the trees i got a bit greedy, sucked in a 2nd Harridan as an intermingled formation and paid the price with a 15cm counter charge... ! Coupled with forgetting to spring the Avatar at the right time this left the way wide open for the nids to assault my centre with an un-depleted force and some sloppy placement saw the whole lot fall to a combined assault Some spore mines managed to high-speed drift over to contest the blitz denying me 2 VPs and the game was a 0-2 loss in the reckoning. The 'Nids ate well that morning...

Chris was a great opponent. Happy to explain through his unit types and special abilities as the game played and took special care to let me know just how they were going to kill me ! :-) Set the day off the a great start.

2. Wartrader/Ian - Death Guard.

An even more foreign list to me and the game started disastrously with Ian infesting my jetbikes and void spinner with plague zombies. The irony that they couldn't actually hurt me (skimmers) didn't stop them sucking some significant points just to try and clear this fearless nuisance and free up my artillery. Unfortunately it was all in vein and Ian's artillery then took great pleasure critting the void spinner on its first hit destroying a jetbike into the bargain! Not a good start.

So, once again it was up to the assault units... Unfortunately, this time trying to zip through the trees in their serpents was a bad move as their main infantry targets stayed tentatively out of reach and instead were faced by an inordinate amount of short range ignore cover fire from 2 Plague Hounds and 2 Plague Reapers stomping through the woods and trenches. The fire was effective but not devastating and turn two saw some good, if now blunted efforts to clear the war engines in assault... but another one-hit crit on the Avatar summed up what was a doomed venture and Ian halted me bloody and beaten.

Thankfully it was the Revenants in the middle which again worked overtime, wiping out Ian's garrisoned artillery, surviving an assault by Plague Marines and demonic beasts, breaking, rallying, pounding a Plague Hound and bouncing on to sustain fire on the Marines almost wiping them out ! But alas, I couldn't quite stop Ian from contesting his objectives and it was ( i think) 1-0 after turn 2. It came down to the wire points destroyed and I managed to just scrape it : 900:1175 !

Another top game against a top tough but fair competitor. Looking forward to a regional rematch !

3. Mr Gonzo/Florian - Death Korps.

Finally the aesthetic highlight of the day - taking on Darth Vader's personal army on Hoth... Does epic get any better ? ;D

Another fight against an army list i barely knew (a great reward to come along and play new lists) but the fear was in me facing up against 6 "snow" crawlers / gorgons and a swathe of the Emperors... well ok not finest, but you know what i mean. Richard L was talking of how the transporters had some kind of protecting spirit and couldn't be killed and certainly even poundings from the revenants seemed to only melt off the ice in round one. But in the second round they found their mark and one of the beasts when up taking half a company of men with them. Luckily for me, Florian's shadowswords were confused by the holofields and couldn't find their mark and combined with the Falcons popping up to break a Warhound, the upcoming attack was looking beatable.

Once again my assault was looking strong on the left (must get a new tactic!) and at the start of turn two i seemed to have my opening - barely scratched and unsuppressed aspects with a warhound in their reach... But once again my Eldar arrogance got the better of me and i tried to set up a rolling assault with my jet bikes to take the Warhound and a infantry company in a double hit... My failure to CAP my fighters in my first activation of the game came back to haunt me and that one BM they suffered from Florian's thunderbolts meant once again the jetbikes stalled their activation with a 2 followed by a rerolled 1... This turned the tables and instead the aspects got shot to pieces byt the warhound and rolled over by the infantry in a text book 2-1 sucker punch.

Once again, time was getting the better of us and we stormed through turn 3 with Florian's supreme commander taking a heavy toll but finally being repealed by a combined effort by my revenants, both guardians and the avatar. Heroic stuff indeed !

A quick scramble of activations as units marched here and there to try to grab VPs and in the end it was another draw, but this time the points (if not the body count) fell against the Eldar and it was all over.
It may have been a frustrating loss but Florian certainly made it the most entertainingly theatrical game of the day and he rightly stole the show with the sportsmanship prize.

Great game; but next time, Greedo will shoot first...!! ;)
