End of T1. The Strategy rating for T2 was very nervously awaited...!

The Man in Form: RichardL takes top spot

You'll never guess who this is from...!

Well, ze Germans can't win all the time... Largos gorgeous 'Nids come home 2nd.
Image

Despite routinely falling in trenches, enough Orks survive to nick 3rd place
Image

Largos amazing 'Nids deservedly swept all before them when it came to the Best Painted prize
Image

"YES!" Mr_Gonzo modestly excepts his Most Sporting prize!
Image

R took the dubious honour of the Wooden Spoon
Image

Most heroic/stupid/cowardly guy out there...
Awarded for having to move virtually the entire army over dangerous terrain just to get out the deployment zone... Much to Mr_Gonzos merriment and sympathy! ;D
Image

Well traveled - Largo gets the acclaim for having traveled the furthest to attend
Image

Winning or losing, everyone had a great time at a superb event.

I like this idea of giving Richard lots of Drop Zone models, maybe he'll become distracted and drop a few points in the future ;)

Really looks brilliant there. Well done Tim, you've done the name proud.

Table 4: Lava World - Richard L vs Mr Gonzo
This game was hilarious! Mr Gonzo made a ridicolous amount of armour saves. RichardL and Gonzo will no doubt reveal all! :D

4+ reinforced, baby! ;D
Closely followed by my new favourite save: 5+ gun emplacements! Haha
Palpatine protects!

And before i forget it again, a big thanks to our super supportive judge Richard!
Makes such a difference having someone neutral around, especially if such a nice bloke like him. Kudos to you, sir!

Only small photos for now, I'll write up some mini-batreps with higher-res images as the week goes on.

First game against Alansa's Titan Legion - an entire tableful of Fearless formations! Something like 40DC on the table between the two of us...

Annoyingly I appear to have missed doing a group shot of MrGonzo's SW models but Reedar's picture up-thread is good. :)

Awesome photos!, Thank you Reedar and IJW, I look like a cheesey gameshow host from the 1970's/80's :D .

I second Mr Gonzo's plaudits for Richard Deane - ensuring that everything was running well and doing a thousand other tasks throughout the day.

Before I go on hiatus and disappear from Epic land for a while (ala get back to normal life for a couple of months), here's my closing thoughts...

1. Wanted to encourage new players to Epic UK events and add a fresh twist(I.e inviting the awesome and most generous prize sponsors on board along with making three unique 6'x4' scenery boards). Happy to give this a most definite tick.

2. Didn't know whether I'd do another event next year as all depended on this first one...happy to give this a tick too. There WILL be an Exeter Entrenchment 2015 :)

3. Have learnt what NOT to do..I.e not wait until the morning of the event to see if the spreadsheet works or not on my tablet....er, it didn't. Reedar saved the day with his laptop. Thanks again Reedar for saving my bacon on the day!

4. MUST do a last minute check to approve all the scenery on the tables before starting the event! Yes I could weasel out of it and blame it on the help I had setting up the scenery...but, no. My fault alone in failing to see there were no gaps in the now infamous Lava table. Oops...lol :D

5. Had such a buzz doing this and the reward in itself was meeting you guys and seeing awesome epic games unfold on the tables. Top stuff! Of course loads of improvements can be made for next year, so please send me your suggestions, feedback etc and I'll take ALL of them on board (announcing winners in reverse order for example)..

6. I might actually genuinely know what I'm doing at next years event without winging it...:D

7. In the event of someone dropping out on the morning of the event (like we experienced) I will volunteer myself to drop out (as I plan. To take part next year too). This should save a repeat of the delayed start we experienced. P.s --- Richard D, you CAN play next year.

Cheers chaps, my hats off to you all and let's do it all again next year :)

BB/Tim

Just to say again, it was well organised for a tournament, let alone for your first one. :)

Time for another image dump.

Round 2 against Blip's Eldar. Lots of close terrain + lots of short range ignore cover barrages = happy Death Guard, although it ended as a draw...

I posted a whole log of my yourney on my blog http://zinngebirge.blogspot.de/2014/07/ ... -2014.html
To be fair, its in German.

I really had a very good time in England. The tournament was well organized, I had three very friendly games, each unique in their own way. The second game against AMTL was especially nerve wrecking because it was one army my Nids really struggle against because of the missing TK weaponry.

I want to thank all of you again, I never had the feel to be out of place and every discussion was resolved in a friendly manner. See you all next time!

!

Believe me, it was pretty damn intense for me too. :) Wave after wave of nids getting gunned down. But they kept coming - due to numbers and the nid's special blast marker rules I suppose. I thought it was incredibly thematic, especially when your canifexes and the dominatrix finally brought my warhounds down.

But, despite massive losses for the nids, in the end I simply wasn't able to clear enough formations to get a win.
A great game!

Glad you had a good time.

Just a quick one from me. Just wanted to give my thanks and show my appreciation, especially to BB and his crew for putting a great event on. Really appreciated. Amazing terrain.

Thanks also to Ian, Christopher and Richard for some terrific and, each in their own ways, memorable games.

Lastly I wanted to raise a glass to Florian and Matt for your excellent company there and back. Cheers!

Good times :)
