My army list:

GOBGUTZ BADFANG'S STOMPY ONSLAUGHT
================================

Warband - 200 (With Warboss)
Mekboy Stompa - 250
Kustom Stompa - 175
Flak Gun - 25

Warband - 200
Kustom Stompa - 175
Flak Gun - 25

Warband - 200
Kustom Stompa - 175

Stormboyz - 150

Gunzmob (2 flak, 3 big gun) - 125
Zzap Oddboy - 50

Gunzmob (2 flak, 3 big gun) - 125
Zzap Oddboy - 50

Dreadzmob (4 Mega Dreads) - 225

Big Dreadzmob (8 Mega Dreads) - 400
Zzap Oddboy - 50
Zzap Oddboy - 50

Fighta Squadron - 150

Bommer - 200

Game 1 - Ryan's Tyranids.

Turn one was fairly inconclusive, but turn two was solidly in my favour from the start, in a few activations I killed his Dominatrix and wiped out several formations. His engagements seemed to do more damage to himself than to me, for the most part.

Game result : 2-0 on turn 3.

Game 2 - Ben's Tau.

A tightly balanced game that went all the way down to the wire. A couple of poor choices by me in the last turn, and a successful activation requiring a 3+ from Ben, saw him take the win in the final stages of turn 3. Ben went on to win the tourney.

Game result : 0-2 on turn 3.

Game 3 : Stuart's Ghazgul Orks

Stuart is quite new to the current edition of Epic so this was somewhat of a tutorial game, and I didn't really play to win until the back half of turn 3.

Game result : 2-0 in turn 3 (would have been 3-0 only I moved a few of his units into my table half after the game was finished).

Some random facts:

- The double Emperor Titan army came dead last.
- The only Tau army came 1st.
- There were two Gargant Bigmob armies and two Titan Legion armies.

This looks like great fun. Would an Exodite army be allowed to count as Biel Tan, or would I have to paint up something else if I were to attend next year?

Yes, counts-as would be fine.

Or you could use an Exodite army list if there's a reasonably balanced one out there.

Looks like four: Imperator, Warmonger, single Warhound, and a Lysander Fighter.

Yup, four activations. And once the Warhound was gone, it only had 2 activations on the ground.

It was great weekend! I played 3 new opponents and faced two armies I'd never come up against in a tournament before! Thanks to MoK and Cut & Thrust for making it happen.

And you played 3 games using the NetEA Steel Legion list, thereby satisfying 50% of your NetEA Steel Legion playtests for the next 6 months. ;-)

b) in my testing I had failed to consider how popular Titan lists are amongst NetEA players, it really throws the meta. "Why take upgrades? Need more Shadowswords!!!!!!"

Aye, there being four War Engine (Titan/Gargant) lists, plus Knightworld, was an interesting change. It affected my list construction slightly too (I'd say I brought 1 more Zzap Oddboy instead of Soopagun Oddboy than I normally would), but in the end I didn't fight any of the WE lists.

Thanks to all for a great weekend – it provided the boost I needed to get my army all based up; and it was brill to meet so many enthusiastic Epic players.

My ground-pounding Ultramarines had a mixed bag of results, ranging from a complete wipeout versus a Gargant bigmob list to a narrow victory against a Ghazghkull's horde list.

A real treat – Bob_Hunk and I are keen to drag along the rest of our gaming group next time :)

Thanks to MoK and the rest of the organisers.

MoK - I know there were a number of last minute drop-outs, and this has generated a lot of enthusiasm; better start looking for a bigger venue - 20 tables may not be big enough :)

(and you should publish the dates for the next one in July)
