I am not sure that people could sustain a complete day of onlooking from either point of view. It can prove a little distracting for the players and boring for uninformed spectators though I am not against it, especially if it encourages others to join in the fun.
A little backstory: Both my brother and my best friend, while I was over visiting family early this year, took an interest in the various epic minis I ordered and traded for and I pursuaded them both to pick up an army of their own. They still have yet to play (a fact that I blame my best friend's newborn on, because he's too cute to ignore in favour of minis) but I keep encouraging them to get out and attend things since having such a positive experience with the welcoming community surrounding the games I've enjoyed in the New England area.
I think they both want to play (and Daventry's not even an hour away from them, so it might not be a trouble to pop in for a while), however they're also both very busy and both completely new to epic (and partly new to wargaming in general), thus need a bit of a push. I also don't want to encourage them to just impose on the good nature of other people, so it's best to clear such things with TOs and players and so forth.
Thanks for the feedback though! Anyone else?
