I wouldn't worry about balance too much if anything all the UK lists are under powered and lack much variation from there Fraction Core lists. So if someone brought one they would be at the disadvantage most likely. Hopefully NetEA Tourny Pack and Armybook is ready before this but if not for sure by 2013.

Have you played them or just repeating crap other people have spouted? I don't think anybody has levelled that charge at Vanaheim which is what is being discusses

I wouldn't say that. Most are fairly well balanced IMO.

IIRC I've played Skullric's Vanaheim twice, and both times took pretty easy victories whilst using "fun" Ork lists (even including Commando Mobs), IIRC.

From that experience I'd say that the Vanaheim is slightly underpowered. :-p

From my experiences using them before Stockade and at Stockade (3rd place 3 wins 1 draw 1 loss - with the L+D in the not very balanced non-GT games) I think they are pretty powerful.

I'd be taking them to the GT but I need to take a quicker army to be able to referee as well

I'd note, that I don't think that allowing Vanaheim would be an unbalancing factor.

I'm not repeating what anyone else has said. They can be confusing to new players, and if SOME lists are allowed, why not all? And at that point, it becomes a problem of "which list do I use"?

I prefer to stick by the core army lists as written by GW for the tournament.

If you're attending, and this is an issue for you, please contact me via PM and we can discuss it.

Thanks!

I got two words..."bring it!"

For that matter, what are the possibilities of seeing AMTL at the tournament?

I'm on the fence about AMTL. It would create an issue for people who create all comers lists, and would potentially change the dynamic of the entire tournament.

As much as I'd like to include it, I'm not sure that it really has a place for tournament play. Don't consider this the last word on it... but I'm leaning towards no at this point.

There is also some talk of someone running a large narrative Epic game on Thursday or Friday. I don't have any details yet, but if I get any, I'll post them up here.

That sounds fun. I'm up for narrative.

I'll post more info when I get it.

If you are concerned about AMTL, I'd recomend considering the Legio Destructor list instead of the War Gryphonnes list, as it's been intentionally designed to be less powerful, and more suitable for tournament play.

Heh. I'd be willing to supply a chapter's worth of Smurfmarines towards a narrative style game. Hopefully THIS time I'll unpack them all and they'll actually SEE USE. I'm actually probably going to pass on this year's epic tournament and just be extra help for getupandgo as he was a bit swamped last year.

As a note, if you don't already have your badge preregistered, you will no longer be guaranteed a full swag bag. The first 1000 weekend badges have already sold. The attack on the webcart this year right after it opened was absolutely amazing. The main 40k events in the scale that isn't ours sold out in under 24 hours.

Hi guys!

I'm looking forward to going to Adepticon this year.

My buddy TheAmazingAntman got me into Epic after I watched him play last year. I managed to snag a cool army from my local shop. I have a Tyranid Army that I'd love to play. Is there a yes or no on the army? I'd hate to have to spend more money on another army.

That's going to be a "negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full."

As of now, the Bugs have not made the official US tournament cut yet due to balance. Not that I've played them, but that's what the Overlords are saying. It would be cool to seem them in action though.

While I have no idea where that quote is from, it makes me sad that I therefore cannot play in the event. Seemed like it would have been fun. Too bad.

Also, since the rules for these armies are made by fans/others, why/who/when are these things tested then? Why even make an army if they are not legal for play? Also, what armies ARE "legal" in this type of game. Its fairly vague. Its not like they ban armies in regular 40k.
