* just to start, I think we will stick to approved list. But at another time we could try a all experimental or some thing like that.

Is this still a "thing"? If so, I'd also be very interested.

I think this is a great idea. It's always surprised me that more people don't seem to play vassal considering how isolated from players some of us are and a tournament and/or gaming day could encourage more people to.

If I'm free with internet access when this takes place I'd probably be interested, I don't mind staying up and playing in the middle of the night if them's the time zone breaks. Some thought and guidelines will have to put into no-shows and bys though, as I imagine whether through real life or technology out of cheese errors some people won't play all the games they're meant to.

I wonder if vassal or Zombo's program works on a good tablet / smart phone? I'm not going to have a proper computer for the next few years.

In my experience a game on vassal takes 2 evening's to complete without excessive disruption to life! So a game a month kind of schedule could be possible.

i imagine neither will work to any decency on the smaller tablets or any smartphone, but an iPad size one can probably handle it. my laptop certainly can.

i'm still keen on this (but not for the next few weeks) but vassals module really is pretty, um, agricultural. it does the job, but it doesnt do it pretty, quick, or easy

I'm sure I saw Zombo testing his game on an iPod once.

I'm probably not going to pick one up till early next year and then get a quad/quint-core 720p+ smartphone/tablet, which'll then be higher spec-ed than my current laptop (which is getting painful to use with all the copy and pasting numbers/characters from the net now 1/3 of the keyboard doesn't work).

Epic on a tiny screen isn't going be ideal, but I have to balance it against weight/space, which is an issue when cycling touring for a few years.

I'll probably end one with an android or windows device personally, as more suited to what I want in some ways than what apple offers, but it's good to know it works on the little scamps.

I'm curious to know how Zombo's project is coming on too.

Sorry my comment was more tongue in cheek ;) but you'd have to ask Zombo whether his program can be sent back and forth that way.

Vassal can be played by email...slowest game ever though as you pass back and forward to make saves etc!

Ya, now that I think about it PBE might not be that great. I think I might forget what was going on lol. The only thing I could think of was to write a log of what I was thinking/planning/happening...

I could see it now....

Captains log star date November 23, 2011, turn Two dash move three. It's been two months since first contact with the grey puppy soilders of SupCom "Dobbys", and I'm beginning to question the true motives of this operation. Imperial command has sent us a... Stout group of soilders and tanks, but the true question is the inclusion of two ballistic class strategic missiles to the front line, against a enemy with no current titan support... It appears that the grey fetish soilders heavy tanks are moving south in a blitzkrieg maneuver, Iv sent a platoon of our truest, finest, bravest men to stop them, we've... GOT-TO! Stop them.
End of log.
