Today's the day!   :agree:

I've got a bunch of scenery put together, score cards, "Anything But a One" tokens, and some cool prizes...   :grinning:

...and about three people showing up to play...  :_(

Still, a little Epic is better than no Epic... no pun intended!

Good luck Chroma! I hope it goes really well and a great time is had by all! Sad for you that not more people around you are interested

I guess we have it lucky here in the UK with our tournament scene. If I had a lot more money so that I could afford to fly to other countries I would consider coming and combining it with holidaying in Canada. Sadly holidaying abroad is out of the question financially for me for the next 5 years or so at least.

All you can do is try to keep the flame going and recruit some local wargamers from other games to the great game I guess. I don’t know anyone in my own city that plays but once I have a couple of nice armies painted plus scenery I plan to see if I can lure people in.

Well, tiny as it was, HEAT09 was a great success!  *THREE* people participated, including myself, but other people who stopped by seemed intrigued by the scenery and tiny soldiers, so, we'll see what happens.

We had as many people as the Flames of War tournament and *three* more than the Warhammer Fantasy and only one less that 40k... so, all things considered, pretty good.  *laugh*

The three armies that showed:

Alaitoc Craftworld Eldar (Drek on the forums)
Steel Legion
Ghazgkull Orks (me)

I've got some pictures I'll post eventually.

I believe all the participants had fun... which is the important thing.  And, it motivated me to get a bunch of new scenery together... *another* important thing!   :agree:

Well, despite my dislike of tournaments and other competitive play these days, I was bummed out that we didn't have more players. So I guess I must have been having fun!

Here's hoping more players make it out next year!

The Baneblades can't quite make it far enough to contest the Imperial Blitz... but they *can* blow the hell outta the Blitz Bridage caught in the middle...

Score:

Orks: 1 (BTS) vs Steel Legion: 0 (none)

Tie-Breaker:

Orks: 1150 vs Steel Legion: 2050 - Steel Legion Victory!

Clash of the (Smaller) Titans!

The Eldar came away bloodied, but they knocked down one Warhound and sent the other packing.

Baneblades desperately try to seal the breach, but the Eldar tide keeps rushing in.

Tie-Breaker:

Alaitoc: 1950 vs Steel Legion: 1050 - Alaitoc Victory!

Odd numbers are always a bummer at tournaments, even moreseo than small turn outs.  The good thing is (I hope) people got your contact information and will start wanting to play more in your area.  One event in Bethlehem, PA really ballooned into a large group of players out here just by virtue of showing the game off.  If you are fortunate, this event will have the same effect.

Good job, all participants!  Glad to see some play in Canada (U.S. Subsidiary)!
