Turn 2
Initiative – Marines
Starting to get a little hazy now, so some of this may be a little jumbled. I’ll try and get the flavor of it across.
Assault marines gleefully bounce into combat with the Rangers, receiving no casualties, but taking down 2 Rangers in close combat and 1 on assault resolution (or the other way round). The 2 broken survivors run away as fast as their flapping cloaks allow. Marines consolidate into range of their T’n’H objective.
Vypers pop up and, in an amazing display of shooting and failed saves, take out all the Tactical infantry, including the Supreme Commander. Patting each others backs, they watch the broken Rhino tear back towards the centre Eldar T’n’H.
LR sustain fires at the Phantom, doing another DC of damage (no critical, thankfully)
Void spinner sustains at bikes, taking out 1.
I think Predators sustain at Vypers, but cause no damage
Shining spears undertake a clipping assault on the intermingled bike and Devastator formations. Although they lose 2 units, due to the inspiring characters they manage to take out one Rhino and 1 Devastator and 3 bikes (just remembered that another bike should have been able to counter charge into range – 10cm instead of 5cm, which might have affected things). Broken Marines scuttle back towards their blitz while the Spears consolidate back to the right Eldar T’n’H.
Typhoons zip back to the centre Marine T’n’H, taking another pot shot at the Phantom.
Guardians go on Overwatch again.
Whirlwinds sustain at right Falcons, taking out a tank.
Marines were out of activations (I think), so the right Falcons sustain at the Land Raiders destroying  1 and breaking the survivor.
I should have then brought on the Vampire to ground attack the sole remaining LR and claim BTS, but I forgot. I’m pretty sure I was hungry, that’s my excuse.
Thunderbolt came into do something at some point, but my right(eous) Firestorms effortlessly swatted it from the sky. I love those things.

Rally:
Marines – here the loss of the SC begins to bite as both the Tac Rhino and Devastators fail to rally. I think everything else did.
Eldar – Phantom AGAIN failed to rally (I think I rolled something like 5 ones for that bloody titan). Rangers passed but left Falcons stayed broken. I think everything else rallied though.

Turn 4
Initiative - Eldar
Vypers advance to the centre Eldar T’n’H, firing on the broken Tac Rhino camping on it, destroying it with a BM.

At this point Cameron calls the game – with only a single bike, a half strength Typhoon formation (staring down the barrels of 2 Phantom pulsars no less), some Devs, a Predator and Assault fm against a largely intact Eldar army he didn’t have much of a chance.
Still, a very entertaining game with some amazingly good and bad dice rolls. I was lucky Cameron didn’t take more advantage of my broken Phantom, particularly with his Terminators – with 4x MW attacks (on a 3+) and 4 normal attacks, there was a chance he could have taken off those remaining 4DC, particularly if he’d sustained with another formation first. Other than that there’s not much else that could have been done better – perhaps spread a few more BMs around and worry less about the Rangers (they were toast from the moment the Assault marines set eyes on them) and more about the centre.

As for the 2nd game of the day, it was a 3x2000pts per side mash up with Orks+Orks+Necrons vs. Marines, Imperial Guard and Eldar. I can’t remember much (lots of carnage) but in summary the good guys wiped out all of the little Bad Guys and the Big Bad Guys wiped out most of the Good Guys (big or small), with the Necrons showing up to wipe out some Leman Russes and annoy the Good Guys with their Pylons and Living Metal (what? MW have no effect?!). Of particular note was Cameron’s suicidal bike assault where, thanks to his enthusiasm and dismissal of a tape measure, only 2 bikes could get into combat with an Ork tank mob. Needless to say he was roundly punished, even giving his Dad’s LR company a BM as a result.

I had lots of fun, a couple of great games and a lot of laughs. If they haven’t been thanked already The Portal deserves a big thank you as does Moscovian for organizing it and lending me his army to play with. Much as I love spending 6 1/2h driving in a day (thank goodness for cruise control, now if only I could nap too), are there any suggestions for somewhere  little closer next time? I noticed that a place in Williamsport sells GW stuff now, so they might be worth calling…

Big game deployment:

Matt did I believe. Ron had a bit of a downer against Necrons after that, understandably :) Don't know who won Studderingdave's match, he might be along to comment.

Yeah, understandably. Necrons are tough to beat.
