Scenarios will be:-
    Ambush,
    Cleanse,
    Meeting Engagement,
    Spearhead,
and possibly Last Stand (depending on numbers)

I'll review these scenarios in the next day or so and see if any correction/clarifications are needed to them or their special rules.

One deployment suggestion for "Ambush" might be to limit the attacker to deploying within 120-150 cm from the defender's deployment zone.

One thing with Ambush is... well... it's an ambush!  *laugh*

If the Defender army is "fast", they could, potentially be 105cm-120cm down the road, or more, due to road marches... if the Attacker placed their formations "near" the deployment zone, they're going to get sandwiched... if they decide to snap off some overwatch, then the Defender can respond as well... possible "tough choices" for the Attacker.

I'll post more comments in your Ambush battle report soon, Ginger

Having two lists is only a suggestion to avoid being caught out by the scenario and having a dull game. Some of these scenarios start with the two armies much further apart than in the 'tournament' game, and two 'foot-slogging' armies might well not get to grips with each other within the alloted time limit.

I had a great time at the event and will add my thanks to Gavin for a fun day.

I'd also like to thank Tom for the Exodus Wars prizes too which has inspired me to start a fourth IG army (my wife won't thank him for that  ).

This will be based on a futuristic style LRDG army after seeing some of the transports in Tom's army.

We had to pull out at the last minute due to some stuff that didn't involve toy soldiers, doh!

I'm very disappointed to have missed this one.

Gavin: I cancelled the paypal payment as you hadn't claimed it.

I don't recollect seeing the payment, so its a good job you did reclaim it. And it is also a pity none of you made it to today's session, which provided some interesting insights into the scenarios. In brif, we played "cleanse", "Ambush" and "Spearhead", and I or the others will write up the results.

Looking forward to hearing about this!  Were they well received?  *laugh*

As organiser, I had decided to play a "fast" list to give me time to do the scores etc, so I decided to field a reasonably 'fluffy' 2nd /3rd turn Marine drop army though I did not expect much from it.

350 Battle Barge
350 Tacticals + Dreadnought
300 Tacticals
300 Devastators + Librarian
450 Terminators + Supreme Commander
400 Terminators + Chaplain
200 ThunderHawk
175 Assault Marines
175 Assault Marines
150 Thunder Bolts
150 Thunder Bolts

Following a random draw, I ended up playing Tom (Exodus Wars) Webb's IG in the first game. Some really fantastic models there. Turn #1, Tom marched the IG towards my blitz. At the start of turn #2, the Terminators teleported on either side of Tom's upgraded Leman Russ Company without getting any BMs - only to lose the Strategy roll! So the LR sustains at point blank on the termies in the open. 30+ dice and 199 hits later, not a single terminator dies! Worse, the SHT company also sustains - felling only a single terminator (Has my legendary luck changed at last?? :oh: ) Well, the inevitable fire / assault occurs, and three LR tanks scurry towards my blitz, and the game went downhill from there for Tom. 3-0 to the Marines

Game #2 was against Steve Gullick's superb Black legion army. Turn #1 saw the BL advancing across the table harrassed by the Marine airforce, grouping in the centre of the table. In turn #2 flushed with their earlier success, the terminators again teleport down either side of the enemy BTS. Winning the SR, one shoots while the other assaults, throwing 3x '1's and 2x '2's losing this assault, (normal service resumed :sigh: ). Both formations are quickly dispatched. The battle hung in the balance for a while following the successfull attack by the THawk with assault marines, but in turn #3 the BL managed to break the tacticals threatening their Blitz while the Chaos Terminators were just able to secure the Marine Blitz against determined resistance. BL 2-0

Game #3 was against Mark Williams Eldar, including a fearsome Warlock. Turn #1 saw the Warlock escorted to the center of the table by three formations, leaving some Rangers, Guardians and Bikes defending the Void Spinner by the Blitz. Though cleverly posistioned, the Rangers were intermingled with everything but the bikes, so the Marine Terminators teleported in position for a combined assault, gaining 5x BM's! (how familiar  ) - Then Mark won the SR on a tie (as I had won turn #1) and destroyed both formations. The Assault Marines exacted bloody revenge, but things were looking tricky. In turn #3 the Devastators had little chance of defending the Blitz against the combined attention of the titan and its companions, and the Eldar Aspects took up position defending the two take and hold objectives. In the last shot of the game, the tacticals managed to inflict sufficient casualties to break them, clawing back a point. Eldar 3-2

Many thanks to Tom, Steve and Mark for three tense and enjoyable games.
