Hornets have arrived - now the preparation and painting starts . . .

4 x MW2+ @ 75cm is nothing to sneeze at, even at 425 pts. I'm certainly painting up 2 scorpions at least.

Yeah I already have 2 scorpions painted for just that reason mike.
I do have cobras but think they would only see the light of day in big games

And it is the range difference that is the issue - Cobras are 30cm, while Scorpions at 75cm can comfortably H-&-R to 105cm. Yes Cobras have TK etc, but have always struggled to get into range. In an army that is geared towards shooting, the short range is only usefull in a defensive mode and as such will not earn their points unless something is foolish enough to stray into range. Finally as a BTS, even three EoV are not good and two suck - so you have to have something else, which in turn eats into the activations etc.

Cobras *might* come into their own in 4K armies, but I doubt it; 3x Scorpions will reach out and smack enemy formations - though the issue of their brittleness remains.

However, it is early days for the list, and time (and ingenuity) will no doubt produce interesting variations in strategy and army content.

I found a BTS of 1 scorpion and 2 cobras was pretty effective

I looked at it as a 2+army dont take the aspects put revs in instead as bts

As long as you're prepared for the pain of no supreme commander re-roll at that crucial moment.....

So the hornets are now assembled, based and undercoated. It is still touch and go, but hopefully they will make an appearance

nope, more last minute printing... I have to go to staples tomorrow to print off all my results sheets for the event!
