Thanks to everyone who attended, particularly Steve for all his help with the scoring, Daves B and T ;) for reffing and their all round help, Tabletop Tyrant for hosting and Charles, Mark and Tim for three very enjoyable games!

I'm hoping to run the event again next year, possibly with a warmahordes steamroller twist....

Echoing the others, Many thanks Simon for organising the event.
Indeed at least one visitor to Tabletop games was looking for other Epic players and surprised to see so many in one place.

Well I had an "interesting" day, with an untried army that did not perform all that well, though there were some surprises.

Game #1 Vs Tim (Nids)
I chose 'corners' spreading the Eldar T&H objectives, Tim garrisoned a Nest on one and Swarm on the other. Tim placed his more centrally allowing me to Garrison a Hornet formation on each with the 3rd garrisoned forwards from my Blitz (in the corner). The game then followed a series of extreme results that saw both sides lose assaults they had all but won. When the dust had cleared, the Eldar had 5 broken formations which put them too far behind the curve. 4-0 to the Nids

Game #2 Vs Brumbaer (Marines)
I garrisoned two Hornet formations behind terrain, The Marines responded with scouts and Landspeeders. The game started off very cautiously with both sides crippling the opposing garrisons. However the Marines outactivated Eldar and kept at a distance from most Eldar fire. Then my 'usual' luck kicked in, I could not throw more than "3" while Brumbaer maintained the laws of averages by throwing all the high numbers - and now admits that my dice rolls are unbelievably bad :{[] At the start of turn #3 I had three small activations available. 4-0 to Marines

Game #3 and comments to follow.

16 players needs 4 rounds to get a 'winner' Simon :) but I've pondered about using steamroller for epic myself.

I was thinking more along the 'bring two lists, pick which you want to use before a game but you have to use each one at least once'

Experiences continued . . .

Game #3 Vs Simon Partridge (Death Guard)
Simon had 10 formations like me and we both had very similar army makeups, except the Eldar were highly mobile while 8 of the Death Guard were Fearless!
I 'castled' most of the Eldar formations behind a set of ruins, garrisoning the Hornets just forward of the Deployment Zone. Then the Zombies, which I had completely overlooked, teleported right in front of my castle - and then the Death Guard won the initiative (oh @@@!!). Fortunately the Zombies picked up 2x BM in teleporting, assaulted my Aspects and were wiped out for the loss of a single Striking Scorpion (large sigh if relief).
Then Simon launched a spoiling attack against my leading Hornets. OW fire killed one of the two guard retinue that could reach and with no casualties on either side the Hornets won the resolution - but the Fearless guard stayed put! This result was repeated many times, with Simon pushing forward as fast as possible while the Eldar hid behind their ruins picking off units here and there. However Simon was unable to rally a large number of his formations and the game finally revolved around the Repugnant titan assaulting the Eldar 'base' supported by a retinue. To my surprise, the Eldar Scorpions beat the titan and the Night spinners and Falcons beat the Retinue, allowing the surviving Eldar Hornets and Falcons to grab objectives and win the game. 2-0 to the Eldar

Don't forget in Steamroller you stay in faction. So 2 Codex Marine lists, 2 Biel tan lists or were you thinking Marine, Eldar etc?

Honestly I don't think it's something Epic needs, or would be to interested in myself. But vive la difference and all that ;)

To be honest I'd like to see something abit like the botch format for something a little different.

@meph yeah you'd have to stay in faction, so two BT lists, two ork lists etc.

@Kev not sure how easy it will be over one day, but any thoughts appreciated!
