My questions are how did people find 2000 pts on 4' x 4' boards?

Thanks for the feedback Mark. Harridans are good for their points, but in larger games you need them and they will be targetted early for distruction byt your opponents. Did the smaller table help you to box in your opponents?

It's a bit of a different game. In 3000 pts 6x4 games there's usually quite a lot of board that is little used. with 4x4 it's you don't get so much space to outfox your opponent. Apart from that I love 4x4 games (and even 2x4! at 1000pts or so)

I've typed up the results and attached them.

In the end we had six tables for four games per round, so as an additional bit of variety every player played on three different tables - there was no top table as such.

Having organised the event I'm a bit biased, but I feel that 2000 point games on 4' tables are very interesting, though they can be brutal given the lower number of activations and, as Alan mentioned, there isn't much empty space. I feel, in hind sight that some of the tables were a bit light on scenery, slightly denser boards might be better to negate the fact that it's very hard to hide on a 4' board.

I'll get round to uploading some photos sometime soon.

Finally, thanks to Ben for donating some very nice prizes, and congratulations to Mark for winning the first Skirmish.

Thanks for posting the results Simom and cheers for hosting the tourny. It was damned fine and I hope you hold another one next year.
Congrats to Mark for winning with those lovely spiky nids of his

Cheers to Ben and his ace orks
Highlights: a good scrap up with a landa full orks against his stompa mob; his big gunz mob did something surprising and successful but I can't remember what it was

Andy
Higlights (numerous):
Watching his irritation in the first turn at my orks going on overwatch, overwatch, overwatch, being picked up by landas and generally barely moving
Watching his irritation as his eldar failed activation after activation
My landa on the ground, belly full of boyz, being shot at by a doubling scorpion, it missing and suffering supa-zappa death in return
A landa getting shot down by a single firstom hit
A heroic if rather stupid scap up between my warlord and his avatar! ok so I broke the avatar and wiped out the neaby falcons my big warband was fighting, nut read on
Lander with warband taking out a guardian warhost covering the blitz, only to be sent packing by the eldar nights spiiner's only shot in the game.
The catastrophic failure of one of my landas to come on on turn three to contest my blitz and with my warlord busy getting himself killed I couldn't re-roll!- All meaning I lost massively in the end

and Rémy
Highlights - a blitz brigade being ff assaulted by a rough rider platoon with a near complete mechanised company supporting it, the blitzes counter-charging against the mech company and seeing the whole lot off for only 3 losses!
Warband in a landa bouncing of another Rough Rider platoon, losing me a landa
Warband in a landa assaulting another mech company covering the blitz to in order get me the win, but being shot out of the sky by ace thunderbolt pilots
The remains of my first zzap brigade rallying at the end of turn 5 (yes five) to scrap a draw (I think at the end there was only somthing like 25 points in it.

Anyway, cheers all

First, I had been very pleased to play my first tournament in this country mainly and to meet a nice and friendly bunch of players. A big thank you to Simon to make that possible.

For the feed back :
- the size of the board 4X4 for 2000 pts work well in my opinion, we still had space to maneuver and enough activations to overcome an unlucky activation roll by changing your plan.
- the tyranid, I share the opinion of mark, harriden are too cheap for the power and you can have too many of them.

You will find the pictures took last Saturday and also the pictures took at the cross gaming club during my training game, here :

I have to congratulate my 3 opponents to have been able to play each game until the very end despite my repeated psychological attach based on broken English.

I’m also very grateful to the 3 players who chose my army for the painting price, that have real enlightened my Saturday.

Thank to evil and chaos for the gift associated with the painting price and for his amazing work to make epic more attractive.

thanks to everyone who attended the first Cambridge Skirmish, it was great to meet some new players and everyone had a good days gaming.

I shall definitely be running the event again next year - similar sort of time, so keep those calenders clear.

Hello, I'm glad to hear that this event went well! I would really have liked to attend, but unfortunately it was the week after a 40k Tournament at Huntingdon ('Call of Kthulu'), which a large group from my gaming club (Bury Wargamers, from Bury St Edmunds) attended (along with myself). Due to family commitments I simply wasn't able to get away to Saturdays in a row!

However, next year I would very much like to attend this, and with 3 new EPIC players at our club, I'm sure there will be additional interest from our group - I'm sure at least a couple of us will attend.

I would be very grateful if you could bear in mind the proximity of these events when planning them - the Kthulu Tournament tends to be around the start of September, and will be running again next year; I know the organiser very well so will inform him about the Cambridge EPIC Skirmish event, so that on his part he can leave sufficient space between the two events.

Hopefully I will see you there next year! :)

Good to have you back in the fold FS. Don't forget that there are also other Epic tournaments that have to be worked around as well.
